I was. Was suprised with calmness at the back. Bassong looked assured though still not the end product but looked the perfect foil fo King. Wish King was without a dodgy knee.
Was happy with the midfield with Palacios holding our ground at the centre of the park with Modric and Lennon threatening from the wings. Hudd also improved. Tackled well and made his presence felt though could still improve. At least now we have a functioning midfield which IMHO we lacked before.
Still reserving thoughts on our strikeforce. Defoe for me is the main man and i would've thought he'd be playing off Crouchy or partnering Pav but fair play to Keano he played his heart out and showed why he's been in our team all along.
Our manager has got it right. Tactically and his selection.
Lets hope we can build on this.
Looking forward to a great season!
P/s: sorry for the long post. I'm just so excited we won against the Pool and played with great function without compromising the entertainment fActor. COYS!!!

Off the ball we were something else, something I haven't seen from a Spurs team (not even 05/06)

I won't get carried away. It'll be a murky, dark night in Hull on Wednesday and that will be a test for us.

Liverpool were shockingly bad coz we shut down torres and gerrard.
We we're more disciplined than we're used to. A few hiccups here and there which on any other day would be punished but we restricted Liverpools movements. We saw few darting runs from Gerrard and Torres throughout the game courtesy of Palacios and to a certan extent Hudd. For all the excitement Lennon and Modric brings to the midfield it's the security we get from Wilson that makes us better overall.

That is spot on.

Last season Liverpool outplayed us in both league games. I'm very pleased we beat them, and played very well while doing so today. If we allow teams to play really well against us then we aren't going to have happy days like this. Lets enjoy it and hope we really are becoming a good side. One day we will be Premiership Champions and I bet someone is gonna say that the opposition really wasn't very good....

Agree with pretty much everything you said, I think Pav/Crouch and Defoe will become our "usual" strike pairing but Keane and Defoe both played well today. The team workrate and spirit was been very good following Carling Cup final loss and it's great to see that it's continued to this season. Everyone's worked really hard at closing down space and making runs...contrasts so much the to the beginning of last season when almost the whole team was wandering around with no ideas and no chemistry.

Was especially pleasantly surprised by Huddlestone's defensive contribution and Bassong's solidity today.

all in all, I was impressed. Bassong looked like a top notch buy to me based on one game watching him. Huddlestone and Palacios made me think would not be such a bad thing if Jenas leaves.

King is King, a complete legend who never ever lets us down but we all wish he could play more.

What on earth was Gomes doing though.

I was impressed, it was a decent performance. We created a lot of chances, and defended quite well.

Bassong looks like a good addition, he fitted in well with the back four. Our midfield played very well, a bit too deep at times, but generally there was good passing and movement on display.

I think Keane and Defoe did okay as individuals, but there wasn't too much link up play between the pair. Personally i would of liked to of seen Pav start along side Defoe, but we got the three points so i guess it was the right pick from Harry.

Rafa's tactics helped enormously, bizarrely fearing Hudd, when Modric is the man that makes us tick. The collision between Skrrtel and Carragher seemed to be the turning point. After that, Skrrtel was clearly unable to continue but they didn't have confidence to replace him with Ayala. Carragher also looked below par afterwards.

Bassong looked good, King was immense as usual, had Torres in his back pocket all game. Palacios and hudd locked out gerrard. They played poorly, because we made them play poorly.

We had a rare blend of application and passing ability today and it was great to see. Huddlestone has upped his game in terms of his ability and willingness to get in among the opposition, this is great as his passing is immense in keeping us ticking along nicely along with Modric and Palacios.

Palacios is the player we all wished Zokora would turn into, fantastic player.

Harry had us shutting them down all over the park wonderfully for the first 70-odd minutes and that is something I'm not that used to seeing from Spurs.
We actually have a balance and a good blend. BAE is doing great work at left back and Corluka was excellent too in bringing the ball out.

I'm pretty optimistic for the season and have no desire to see Bentley or Jenas on the pitch whatsoever.

It actually looks like a team playing together now and not a bunch of individualists.

I liked our team. Liverpool are one of the more powerful teams in the league in terms of also being able to play football as well and we handled them quite well. Liverpool's passing was quite poor. Some of it came down to our midfield/defense though I'm sure. We didn't look as well as I'd like going forward, but it is Liverpool, who are obviously a strong side, especially with the likes of Mascherano protecting their back four. I don't want to go overboard, we'll see how we play away from home.

The key to win was the brilliance of King and Bassong and the dynamic of Hudd and Palacios. They were fantastic in the middle, Gerrard was not in the game.

I think we made them look bad because I thought we were excellent, 5th place is ours!

Agree 100%

They had real trouble with our passing and movement today, and when they had the ball we pressed them well, never giving them too much time on the ball. Our whole team worked really hard from back to front to deny them space.

The fact that we where making them look bad was evident in a lot of the bad tackles and mistakes they made, particuly in the first half. for the last 25-30 minutes of the first half they totally lost their discipline and where lucky to only go in one down at half time.
