I've just watched the first half of the super cup and taking into consideration that it is their second official match, they don't look as threatening as i had imagined them to be. They have 10 players from the CL final playing and aren't that impressive. Chivu can be exploited at the back by Lennon's pace however I beleive that we would need to go with 4-4-1-1 formation and try not to get funnelled into the middle which plays to their strengths. I believe the best set of midfielders would be: Bale, Modric, Palacious/Krancjar, Hudd, Lennon. I would go for Crouch as the lone striker to hold the ball up as i think the two centre halves would be too physical for Defoe and Pav just doesn't have the agressiveness. My only worry is the pace of Eto'o against Corluka. What a match-up Bale v Maicon would be.

Almost exactly the same team apart from Stankovic and I think it's the same setup as in the CL final.

Cheers fella :) Interesting to know, just in case Rafa tries tinkering with a winning machine. If I was Rafa I'd just say "Keep doing what you did for Jose, please!"

There are little areas of the pitch where we could win key battles, so it could be interesting, especially at home.

Well the thing about Inter is that although they definitely have the players to hurt you at any circumstance, but they're a defensive team. In the semi-final away to Barcelona I was shocked at how Barca basically had the ball for the whole game. Yes, it was Barcelona, but it was a staggering difference possession wise.

I think we definitely have a chance at the Lane, but we don't wanna lose the game in midfield. We won't be able to afford to have say, Palacios in the centre of the field on his not being able to pass form.

Remember as well, this is the Champions League where a team can be on not so great form in say, the league but then shine in this competition.

You could say its classic Benitez. He's got a forward as a Left Mid, four central midfielders, a centre back at left back and wont let Maicon get forward.

Or you could say its their first competitive game and their first with a new manager, so obviously it would take time to gel. But they have been too defensive.

Aguero looked very good.

They certainly don't have the same intensity as with Mourinho, with any luck this defeat will be a trigger to their downfall.

Ah guys,

Hold on a sec. Their league hasn't started yet. They're understandably a bit ruuusty.

That said, la Liga hasn't started either. Perhaps the age thing is finally going to fark them up. That, and having Wafa.

Yup we definitely can't get too excited based on that performance. They'll be more up to speed when we play them.

Errr..... amazing how people can take seriousness out of this result and yet simply palm off our 4-1 home mauling against Villareal as nothing...

inter have great players, there is no doubt about that fact. rafa benitez however, is a dreadful league manager. rafa has had some success in europe, and if he can get that success out of gerrard, he can get it out of inter. if inter reach the semis it will be luck of the draw more than anything else.... they will win our group however.
