Hey guyzz, what about that time we signed Joe Cole and Harry ruined our club, but then neither of those things happened after all.

You reference a different Spurs forum below your username.

Your avatar is a picture of a player who plays for another club, and will probably never play for Spurs.

Your signature is a goodbye message to a current player who hasn't been sold yet, and now your suggesting a player who has never played for Spurs would have caused the downfall of the team if he hadn't gone somewhere else instead.

What planet are you on?

You've succesfully created (and are living in) an alternate universe where all YOUR worst nightmares about Tottenham Hotspur are coming true, and YOU think YOU are the only one who can see them coming.

Quality post biglad!!

Too many media sponges around here that soak up any drivle the press and ITK grind out. Everything that is stated on any media site is believed and Harry/Levy/the Club is ridiculed based on what 95% of the time is sheer fiction. Just look at past transfer windows.

Again I applaud you.

I don't agree at all that Harry is looking to flood our squad with older players on huge wages.

I think he realises we already have a strong squad with an array of talented young players and whats to bring in an older head or two with the experience and leadership to tie everything together (as he has done with Gallas previously)

I remember the pundits talking about the difference between Man U winning the league last season and Chelsea/Arsenal being also rans. One of the leading points was that Arsenal really too heavily only talented youth and fall apart when an experienced head is needed to marshall the troops through the bad times while Chelsea are too heavily stocked with older players and Man Utd have the perfect blend of experience and youth.

I honestly think it is this blend Harry is trying to achieve, he isn't looking for a mass of young promising prospects because we have already made them types of signings and need to let the youth we have develop and not block their path with more and more of the same type signings.

And experienced winner or leader to help the young players fulfill their potential is possibly just the ticket. Think how much a young striker could learn from a Drogba or if Parker can produce his PL form of last season how well his drive and leadership skills can help rally our squad which is already very talented but was let down on occasions in games we should have won (we were rarely outclassed) games that a general who can get the best out of the troops when they're down could turn into wins and losses into draws.

It doesn't mean Harry only wants to bring in old heads or that he wants to bring in a bunch of them (surely its either or) it just means he sees a need for more experience and leadership in our squad and would like a player or two of that ilk to complement what we have.

It doesn't mean we will not continue to sign top prospects if they become available (by all accounts we are working hard to sign Leandro and have our eyes on Hazzard)

Why would we want a mass overhaul? we all know we have a great squad that only requires a tweak or 3 so why is everybody up in arms when Harry suggests thats all we need?

Lets save the moaning until after the transfer window slams shut. If it does without us addressing our striking options we have cause for complaint, if we sell some or any of our best players we have cause for complaint, but if all this doom and gloom talk comes from us being linked to Parker (who could very well do a great job for us) and signing Brad Friedel (who was free and could even have been signed with an eye to improving Gomes with his consitancy and coaching ability as well as cover) then I think some people are getting their panties in a twist far too early because currently there is no reason to be so disgruntled and fear the worst.

Just to confirm, this thread was made on the back of us signing 5 old players and shipping out a load of youngsters right?

Or was it made based on one signing (Friedel) one dud link (Joe Cole) and a link to the player of the year whilst ignoring all of the younger players we've also been linked to?

If we get nearer to the end of the window and we've only brought in a load of codgers and nothing else then I think this thread would be justified. To put it out just over two weeks after the last game of the season smacks of an agenda being followed very closely.

Agree.

Someone should do a poll on Brett and the Disciples of Doom.

I think there are two concerns with Redknapp in the long term, one is a preference for experienced Premier League pro's and the other is his past managerial record for taking clubs to a point and then declining. There's a long way to go in the window to see what happens on the transfer front and we have to give him next season to see if he can get us back into the Champions League. Bringing in a new manager is only going to make the transfer window difficult and probably lessens our chances of a top four finish as they get used to our squad/league.

Our best chance of holding onto our best players seems to lie with Redknapp next season. If he succeeds, perfect. If he fails, then I think it might be time to try and bring in a manager for the long term. Next season is going to be defining for us, one way or the other.
