Not happy seeing Kaboul as peoples best right back

Its a tad premature perhaps, but I think he has done well there. The Charlie of last season, offers composure and good reading of the game and normally does well with Lennon. Hutton is good going foward but still unconvincing with his defending, IMO anway - a wee bit similar to GJ, without the shooting technique.

Kaboul, in the short time he has played at RB, offers the most when you combine both requirements together. Gets up and down really well, much better defensively than he use to be and he can whip in a great cross too.

That said he was great at CB too recently, which is extremely encouraging for us. If he keeps that up he should be the long term partner for Dawson, when King starts to fade away.

Kaboul against Stoke started to convince me he could make a great centre back for this club. The boy is becoming a man.

I think people have got to remember that Charlie has evidently been playing with a back injury this season, so let's see how he does when he comes back before judging him too much - back injuries can be a nightmare to play through.

Yeah fair points mate re Charlie.

I am really excited about Kaboul, think the sky is the limit for him. With him being able to fill in well at RB as well, he suddenly looks a key player for us - without wanting to sound that I am getting ahead of myself.

We haven't seen or heard anything from the original poster since the Twente or Villa matches. Strange that.

Probably in hospital getting his knee seen to.

Arry proved beyond a shadow of a doubt last season that he knows what he is doing

Its been a bit patchy thus far this season but just look how well Arse are doing without their spine (ahem)....

We've had/got some bad injuries and we're still there or there abouts

Long may it AND Arry continue

Redknapp on Crouch:

"PETER CROUCH is 6ft 7in tall so his best asset is an obvious one.

It's no good putting him up front and then trying to play the ball to his feet all the time.
Peter is a technically good player but England should use his height — because he towers above most defenders.

I'm the last one to advocate the long-ball game but, if you have a player like Steven Gerrard who can put the ball on his head from 35 yards out, do it.

While he does that, the team can surge forward as a group and pick up the second ball, the knockdown they know is coming.

If you're not going to make the most of Crouchie, don't play him, simple as that. Use a little striker instead."

Is that what he says to us when we play with Crouch? If so, I think I'd prefer it if we didn't play with Crouch except as a last resort.

Anyway seems a bit simplistic to me. Play a big man; hit long balls. If not play a little man! Brilliant.

Look at this for more insightful stuff. In his own words. "He has a vision..."

"I HAVE a vision of a 'golden triangle' for England.

Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard in the middle, with Wayne Rooney playing off a striker and dropping back a little bit.

In that way, he can play just in front of the two central midfielders and is a great link-man between midfield and up front.

There is no doubt Rooney is still a world-class striker. But again when Lampard is missing, there is an obvious gap in the team.

I think Rooney is perfectly suited to the role of dropping off a main striker, because he is superb at running at defences with the ball."

Wow. I cant believe no other manager's ever thought have trying that one!!

And what about that midfield...

"IT'S clear England miss Frank Lampard's goals.

There is a good chance Frank would have scored on Tuesday night at Wembley so his absence was keenly felt.

I am a big advocate of Steven Gerrard and Lampard being in the centre of midfield despite all the debate about whether they are able to play alongside each other."

So in short we've got 4-4-2, lumping it up to a big man with that tremendously exciting potential partnership Lampard and Gerard in CM behind (just imagine if we'd ever had those two fit together to play in middle; we'd be world champions by now!!). Back four? Johnson, Terry, Ferdinand, Cole, they're the best in the world, don't you know! Better than World Champions Spain even.

Finally, on support for his own players...

As you may have guessed, I'm not the biggest fan of "Harry - the public persona", I especially hate the disingenuous job-pitch that he comes out with after every England match. Fortunately what he does doesn't actually match with what he says, but I wish he'd just shut-up.

Not keen of the idea of lumbering it up to Crouch for knock downs, but crossing from angles for him to knock down like we did for both VDV goals against Villa, and almost for a third, that's effective, clever football. Two of our three crosses like that we from Lennon by the way, something England could have done themselves had they played Young, a right footer, on the right, and Johnson, a left footer, on the left. Of course it would also mean Rooney remembering that he is in fact a forward and not a defensive midfielder so that he could actually be near Crouch for those knock downs, but I guess he's just not as good as Van der Vaart. Ah well.

The Barca example (though an example being used with far superior players involved all over) is the best one. They played with a fast, on the shoulder type forward in Eto'o when they had wingers cutting in, and it worked perfectly, they literally won everything in one calander year. They replaced him with a back to goal target man in Ibrahimovic and the won only La Liga in 2010, and this despite Messi having the best season any of their players has had since Real Ronaldo's season.

Crouch's use in a side that wants to play football is quite dependant on having wingers who get on the outside, whether deep or from the byline, and cross. Inswinging crosses aren't his bag baby. When a footballer as complete and talented as Ibrahimovic, or even Berbatov for his first two seasons at Utd, struggles with wingers cutting in, what chance does Crouch have exactly?

As most of this is taken from his Sun Column it doesn't make me as angry as if it was a live interview. He only puts his name to the Sun, doesn't sit with a pen and scribe it himself.

Harry, you are manager of Spurs, NOT England, please shut up about it.

I think he does a bit more than just put his name to it, the way I imagine it works is Harry has a phone conversation with the reporter who records and transcribes it as if it were an article. In that sense it is off-the-cuff in the way a properly considered written opinion wouldn't be, but it's still Harry's words.

Anyway, like you, I just wish he'd keep his mouth shut after England matches.

As I said in the other thread on this article, this is scary stuff it's the extent of Harry's tactical vision

I want to agree because I've never warmed to Harry's persona, I think he's disingenuous. And then he comes out with crap like this...

Except, the reality is that he spouts a lot of crap, one second claiming 4-4-2 is dead at international level and the next advocating it as his "Vision" for winning international football, but his teams always tend to play attractive and on the whole (in our case anyway) winning football.

But it isn't. You only think it because that's what you want to believe, because you don't like the bloke. It's a natural progression.

You watch enough of us as a team, last year and this year, to know this is not his tactical vision.

Well we all wish for certain things and really, it doesn't matter one bit what Redknapp says for The Sun re England. Not sure why you are bitching about it really or took the time to dissect it.

To discuss Tottenham, not to be the mouthpiece of our manager and act like we should give two fucks about what Redknapp says to The Sun about England.

Look, he isn't going to say exactly what you want him to so why bother bitching about it. Why not judge and comment on what goes on on the pitch?

Mate you are a muppet. Lets get all tactical and play loads of different formations, change the team, change the direction change the flipping lot.

Harry is a masterclass. He gets the best out of players, Do you think finishing 4th last year was a fluke?
We play some of the best football I have seen under Harry. We beat the top teams now too. We play fast, flowing, attacking football with pace and vision.

Yes we have the odd slip but building a team of winners takes time. Just think for 2 minutes about the dross you have seen week in week out since 1989 and reflect on what you are all talking about.

Yes lets get rid of Harry. Bring in a technical tactician who is so interested in diet, fitness and discipline that we find ourselves bottom of the league with just 2 points from........ you know the rest.

Jol cant compare to Harry. Look at their records as managers at Spurs. Look who we are playing next Wednesday night, look at what is happening right before your very eyes.

Watch Sky's headline advertising when Sky Sports News starts, Pav's goal top corner. That is always saved for the Sky 4 ?????

You are deluded and living in cloud cuckoo land.

Wake up, smile and realise that the man is the BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO SPURS for nearly 30 years.
