Fair dos. I don't think anything else you've said is off the mark, I just think listing Fletcher, Dailly et al is a somewhat cheap shot (are they really worse than some of Englands players in the past 10-15 years?).

You really think McGeady isn't good enough for Spurs? My mate is adamant he's quality. I trust his judgement as he's a big Celtic fan and as an ex-Hibs man, he's played the game and knows his onions. Mind you, he was also telling me that Cudicini was probably the 2nd best keeper in the EPL so he has his moments.

Mc geady 6 million yes anymore and its a big risk!
The team that plays the best football in Scotland for me were Hibs until the old firm came calling.T Mobraw/Collins produced a brillant footballing side.Brown,Thomson,Whitaker,Murhy, sproule the 2 africa players Benjy ,Zemma.Throw in Jones,Murphy. They didnt have a decent goalie though. You now have Fletcher and D Sheilds.
They were a bit like spurs, always blowing they beat Rangers 3-0 in the Scottish cup and it was one of the best performances,id even seen.Sproule run Rangers ragged. Then they lost to Hearts inthe next round.
They still play good stuff now, when they can be bothered a bit like us really!

Cool. That makes sense. He's still a young 'un after all. Although that often now means you can double their 'worth', eh?

But as I say, I've been told there's naff all chance of it happening as McGeady has said he really doesn't want to leave Celtic.

Did you hear about him and another lad (sorry, forgot the name) getting a pasting in Glasgow city after last weekends win? Sounded nasty according to my buddy.

As i said m8,watch him last night twice the player half the price and D Fletcher and C Dailly,K Miller plays for scotland and that says it all!

Twice the player of Dailly? Yes. Twice the player of Fletcher? You're having a laugh.

Go on Red Cafe and ask the Manchester United fans what they now think of Fletcher. This isn't 2005-2006, mate. Fletch is extremely well thought of these days. I'll gladly link you to the many threads that have discussed his improvement.

If we are going to raid one of the Scottish clubs again why not Carlos Cuellar at Rangers?

He and Woodgate could help make us more solid and if King was fit we would have 3 to choose from. Plus an extra experienced head to help with the developement of our young prospects in that postion

Cuellar is on another planet. He really is. I swear, there's not another defender in the world I'd rather have. And there's no bias here. He's Spanish and I'm a Celtic fan.

He is simply inspiring. If Spurs get him besides Woodgate, Hutton and Bale, they'll have the best defence in the league.

What's great about him is that he just defends. He takes no chances whatsoever. Did you guys watch Rangers-Fiorentina last night? That's a fairly typical Cuellar performance. Can't say enough about him.

Very interesting comments. I have seenMcGeady play once. He looked pretty good. However, I have some quasi-ITK of my own on this. It'd be interesting to see what you boys think of it...

Last night, I was sharing a few beers with a mate in my footy team. He used to be on the books at Hibernian. His best mate back home plays for Partick Thistle. This mate told him that McGeady had walked not only the Young Player of the Year award in Scotland but the Players Player before he did. It was his contention that McGeady was quite simply the most impossible player to play against. He would either totally surprise you or - worse - you'd know exactly what he was about to do, but get absolutely nowhere near him. He said that McGeady was the best player he's ever faced in the SPL.

However, lest we get excited about him coming to the Lane, he also said that McGeady has told him personally that he does not want to leave Parkhead. He also stated his opinion that if McGeady is sold that the Celtic fans will go apeshit and force out WGS, not to mention barrack the board. Regardless of the cash involved.

COmpletely off topic, but another interesting tidbit for Old Firm-ites was the news that Barry Ferguson has recently had his 25th cortisone injection of the season (when he was rested against Partick after their UEFA Quarter Final). One more in the near future and he'll have to hang up his boots. Basically, he's fucked and will be lucky to play any kind of role for the blue-noses next season.

Obviously, given the Ledders situation, I'd take this knid of news with as many salt pinches as your fingers allow, but thought it was interesting enough to share.

McGeady often flatters to deceive. He has plenty of ability, but he is extremely predictable. He always cuts inside, always tries the Ronaldinho feint (making an arse of it most of the time). Honestly, mate, he is not the type of player that will move Spurs forward. I'd say he's on a par with Lennon.

As for Ferguson, I feel for the guy. This is not the first time that he's been on injections for most of the season. He's a fantastic player when fit. I remember back in '99 when Dick Advocaat gave Ferguson his chance. He ran the midfield against the likes of Bayern in the CL. It's a shame injuries hamper him constantly.

Cheers for the classification. If he's similar to Lennon that gives me fair idea of his quality/attributes. And I have to say I would agree that were we to sign Aaron Lennon now he would not be 'the missing piece in the jigsaw'.

How long since Glasgow was the European City of Culture, again?

I'll pass that on to my mate. I got the info 3rd hand through him and his mate (Partick player), who actually wasn't there either. 4th hand, therefore, I suppose. Small world though. :)

'Tis the way of old firm fans to be bitter about the successes over their rivals.

What I will say is that no one cheered louder when Rangers got through on Thursday than I did. I guarantee that there wasn't a Rangers fan happier than this Celtic (Scotland really) fan when Novo score that penalty.

My dad is a Rangers fan and I'm a Celtic fan. Country>>>>> Club, as far as I'm concerned. Always will be.

Yeah he's amazing when he has 8 other defenders (9 including the keeper) on the pitch with him--5 midfielders that play like CBs plus the other 3 in the back line. :)
