Clearly doesn’t fit the description of “Professional Footballer”

This would be like travelling back in time and signing Ndombele even though you have the knowledge that he’s going to be a massive headache and a drain on the squad for years.

I don’t think they’re comparable.

Ndombele’s attitude results in him not performing.

Toney does perform. The question is whether you want someone of his character around the club and if his arrogance will result in poor PR and distraction.

Tony’s lack of professionalism results in him not playing. He could end up turning it around and never being an issue again but its too much of a risk and another potential 60+ million hole

Agree, but again not really comparable to Ndombele.

I've only just seen the 20 minute segment on the gambling and ban, not got the time for nearly 2 hours of the whole thing, but from the small amount I saw, he actually comes across as a little bit thick, no nice way of saying it really but he does. I don't know who the interviewer is but from that small 20 minute piece, he's brilliant, as far as interviewers go he asks the right questions, sympathizes, relates, asks tough questions etc, I might be wrong as he may be genuine, but he's playing Toney like a fiddle, trying to get him to open up and trust him etc, issue is, as I said, I think Toney is just not very bright. Takes little responsibility for what he's done and just fobs it off really like he's been hard done by.

Very weird to do a nearly 2 hour interview to act like that, if he was genuine I think most would have warmed to him a bit and sympathized, but he just comes across as a bit of a dick, which makes me thinks he's just extremely unaware and thinks this interview would have been a great success, which it clearly wasn't going by the responses..

The interviewer is Steven bartlett. He's one of the dragons on dragons den and a big man utd fan (can't you tell by the accent 🙃)

He doesn't come across well, but he performs on the pitch.

I mean, Kane was flirting a move away when he had the Neville interview, Berbatov refused to train and even Robbie Keane with his boyhood club crap and fighting with teammates.

And to be honest if it got me a fit girl to sleep with me, I'd certainly feel comfortable saying fuck Brentford.

Also I don't think he'd actually come to us at the moment as well. Anyway there is probably enough red flags to leave this one alone, but give the guy a break.

Anyone that acts like a dickhead is fair game. More arrogance than Zlatan with half the ability.

If he was smart then he would have done the opposite of that interview.

I'm certainly not arguing that the interview was a smart thing to do.

But he's not more arrogant than Zlatan (hyperbole) and what is the opposite of an interview?

Zlatan, Ginola, Stoichkov, Hagi; they are all allowed to be arrogant and high on themselves. Dion Dublin, Kevin Davies, Michael Antionio and Ivan Toney not so much.
If you are a donkey, even a good reliable one, you should know what you are.

There’s a difference between being arrogant and a complete bellend.

He's just not very bright unfortunately and that can be dangerous when it's mixed with earning millions of pounds and having everybody tell you you're amazing.

Shame as he would be perfect for us playing wise. He seems like a liability charcater wise and seems to go against what Ange is trying to build here but if Ange and the club got happy that they could manage him and make it work I'd have him. He comes across as a total wanker but look at any successful team and you'll get your pick of those.
