I go on what I see him do on the pitch, anything else about attitude etc is hearsay...made a mistake with the gambling but he's been punished for it...
Moving this here so as not to clog up the itk thread...

He may have been punished but he doesn't appear to have learnt his lesson, nor has he accepted any responsibility.

I'd say that going by the videos, his interview and what our resident ITK's are saying, we should steer well clear of the bloke.

The "fuck Brentford" video was enough for me, and that's before the cherry of gambling yourself into being banned for half a season and showing no contrition whatsoever. The bloke is an absolute weapon, and there simply has to be a better player and character that we can find.

Yeah, imagine the response in this place had one of ours been captured saying something like that?!
I remember the abuse Ghaly got for throwing his shirt when that was clearly more of an act of frustration, rather than an intentional display of disrespect to the club.

The gossip column on BBC.com is suggesting Cheatski could bid for him, and he's valued at 80 million pounds......match made in heaven, and so appropriate. I don't care where he goes as long as it's not to us! He's cancer looking for a host!

Exactly what we need football wise, but unfortunately seems to be the complete opposite personality wise.

Yeah, I understand that I hate him, for those 2 reasons
Bit immature hating anyone unless they’ve done anything personally to you or your family in my humble opinion.

Why waste such a negative emotion otherwise, especially on a footballer?

I wouldn’t say I hate him in anyway shape or form, but from watching interviews with him he still doesn’t see what he has done wrong, I think he is an incredably talented player, but is not someone we want someone linked with our club.

He made a mistake; we all do. The fact he can't outright state it was entirely his fault is not a good look.

That’s the main issue for me. A huge part of recovering from addiction is accepting that you are an addict. He doesn’t seem to be doing that.

If he's valued at 80m I reckon Chelsea could probably get him for around 140m.

400k a week, 8 year contract. Plays for one season then spends the other 7 years in the reserves or out on loan.

The mantra under Ange is “good person first”. Does/can he fulfill that remit?

Great footballer though, and I would be annoyed if either Arsenal or Chelsea got him, because I do think he is what they need (from a footballing perspective).

Can't sign everyone though right? Those 2 clubs are always going to get quality players through the door, if not Toney, it'll be someone else. At least this way it comes with a potential timebomb and squad destabilising effect. I can't see him happy sat on either bench for example, and being a model pro.

Toney hasn't come across well in his interviews. Not convinced his ability matches the fee anyway, add to that the potential character issues and makes him a player I'd likely keep away from.

Watkins also isn't great value. 27 years old, I think, with 2.5 years left on his contract.

I don't mind us spending big, but don't rate either as being good enough to justify such a fee.

He’s a big burly forward who was playing in a system that suited him down to the ground. I feel like his ban has given him a bit of an aura he doesn’t warrant. He’s suddenly being rated as this 80 million pound player because he’s not played for months and people only remember the highlights. A bit like when an injured player is suddenly the answer to a teams problems because they aren’t available. They often don’t match the hype when they’re playing again.

I think I’d be pretty relaxed about him going to Arsenal or Chelsea. Is he better than Antonio at West Ham? Or Ings when he was in form at Southampton? I don’t think so, and with his personal problems he’s best avoided.

I hope we go no wheee near this bloke, I don’t think he would bring anything to the team spirit or dressing room. Seems only interested in himself than the team.
