Maybe some players are late developers but just look at his transfer record before joining Brentford...

Brentford up to their silly games again on transfer value.

Madness by them if they spend £100m on Toney
Would be great if they did. He’s completely unsuited to their style of play for starters, and it’s only a matter of time before he’s caught gambling again imo. Imagine spending 100 million and then he gets banned for another year to 18 months.

The risk factor is way too high. Whatever angle you look at it.

I think we're actually fairly well covered in the striker position. As others have said, there's other areas more pressing for squad depth.

Arse for £100m ….I saw Keegans “I’d love that” rant then.

He would scored goals, he is a handful, he gives defenders a torrid time. But the unhappiness and disharmony would outweigh all of it.

Can you imagine Jesus’ upset crying face, at the thought of him coming.

If he wasn’t such a prick, I’d absolutely love us to sign Toney in Jan! He’d fit Ange's style of football perfectly, knows the league, can put the ball in the net, target man, can run in behind, can create goals, would be the ideal profile of player.

Think he’s an Arsenal fan anyway also but hope we can find a similar profile of striker and sign them in Jan as we have enough wingers on our books until summer but with Son away at Asia games and just generally we need to sign another top striker option in Jan 💯.

Richy, Son, Veliz, all the promising kids. No need at all for a new striker imo. And Johnson of course...
These players are all talented, but none of them have what I call “consistent world class confidence“ in shooting range.
Sonny is world class at his best, but he still has dips in confidence.
The others are not there yet…and although Johnson and Veliz have time, they both need to find some animal within them to attack that goal.
Harry Kane’s self belief is the benchmark. And I know there aren’t many around, we do need one more attacker with buckets of self belief and a solid foundation of scoring good goals in a top league.
Somebody who just ‘knows’ they are going to score.

It will take a season or two for Veliz and Johnson to really climb the ranks in regards to goal scoring.
And Richy will always flip-flop - unless he’s seeing an unbelievable mind specialist.

Sonny to tee them up……and ‘someone new’ to consistently put them away many times a season.
Or indeed create the space for Sonny to score himself.

Isn’t Maddison an Arsenal fan? Does it matter who you supported when you were 14.

That nonsense doesn’t bother me one bit, what I don’t like is the attitude and how he’s conducted himself over the last twelve months.
I could see him coming in and thinking he’s the billy big bollocks and disrupting any team dynamic Ange has instilled.
Massive swerve from me, let him go to Arsenal or Chelsea where he’ll fit in better with their ‘projects’

You realize I’m not Toney’s agent ?

No need for a new striker in the January market, where choice is limited and prices high.
Unless a crazy opportunity presents itself that's too good to turn down, we've got much more important positions to fill a a time when we're only going to be bringing in one, or two players.

We've got enough options until the summer imo, with Son, Richy, Veliz, Johnson and even Deki probably able to do a job there.

I'd rather leave the striker til the summer window and see how the players we've got fare until then.

Has there actually been a single credible link for Toney? This feels a complete non-starter for me.

They spent £70M on Havertz. Relatively speaking, £100M for Toney is a bargain for someone who actually knows which way the goal is.
He also knows which way the local Ladbrokes is. That and a big pay rise could be a dangerous combination. I'd rather them than us...

Anyone thinking we should spend 70/80m for this prat is off their rocker. Perfectly good player, for maybe 3 years, before his standards drop, and his sell on value declines the moment we buy him.

And that’s assuming he doesn’t bring a bad attitude. Hard pass. No brainer

I wouldn't bet on it

To clarify in response to the wtf from Ron; I wouldn't bet on Toney joining us.

The signing for Arsenal to take themselves to the next level is Osimhen, that's the only realistic signing they could make that would worry me. Toney would be similar to the Aubameyang signing. He may do well initially but it won't last and it'll end in tears IMO.

Sorry. Hadn’t realised I had done that! Removed

ps I get them sometimes, but mostly assume it’s an accident
Absolutely no worries pal. I realised I wasn't replying directly to your post above mine so thought I would clarify. Hope you had a nice Christmas.
