Arsenal and Tottenham target Jadon Sancho withdraws from Manchester City training in bid to force move
The 17-year-old attacking midfielder has returned to London with no intention of going back to Manchester as he looks to secure the promise of first-team football elsewhere.

Jadon Sancho has stopped training at Manchester City as he attempts to force a move away from the club. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder has not attended training at the City Football Academy since last week and has returned to London with no intention of going back. Sancho has one year left on his scholarship deal but has asked to leave City because he does not see a future for himself there. He is now just waiting to be released so that he can sign for another club.

Tottenham and Arsenalare the favourites to sign Sancho, and Spurs have already made the first move.Last month they asked City if Sancho could be included in the deal that took Kyle Walker to the Etihad Stadium, but the Manchester club turned down their request. If Sancho were to sign with Arsenal or Spurs, City would be due a compensation fee close to £4m.City rate Sancho very highly and have offered him a three-year professional deal worth £30,000 per week to keep him at the club. But Sancho has rejected it, believing that his path to the first team is blocked and that he would be likelier to play senior football elsewhere.

City are still hopeful that they can agree a new deal with Sancho, and believe that they can in fact provide a pathway to the first team for him. Sancho was initially pencilled in to be part of Pep Guardiola’s squad for the summer tour to the United States but was dropped from the squad because of the contract stand-off. The youngster is now waiting for the club to release him.

Don't care how good he is, purposely missing training at 16 when he's only just started his career is a big no no. Either he's been poorly advised or he's a brat.

Quite refreshing seeing a talented young footballer actually wanting to carve out a career in the game. Not sure of his methodology of getting away from a contract he signed though.

To give the lad some credit he's turning down a guaranteed £6m+ to pursue what he feels is a better chance to play football.

He's not even signed on as a professional with City, so having turned 17 has every legal and moral right to be bought out of his scholarship deal.

City refused to discuss him in the Walker deal, so probably feels he has to dig his heels in.

A brat who rejects a £30k per week contract? Yeah alright...

If true shows he is confident in his ability which is good to see.

Poch is the only option when you consider how many English players he has developed.

And isn't he asking to leave because he's homesick??
In this case, it isn't about money

My hope is that we've upped Edwards wages, hence the quick new deal soon after Breezer said it would likely take a while, so he's not as upset when Sancho signs on more.

Though agree it's not good missing training, unless he is actually homesick, at 16/17 would hardly be shocking.

He hasn't actually signed a contract though. He is only on a very flimsy scholarship.

As others have said at 17 signing the biggest contract offered to someone of his age would be the easy thing. Walking away to find football that's still not guaranteed is brave

He is probably best served going to Palace and be a regular for 2 years

Would people be happy with a RB, Simeone, Barkey and Sancho? As long as Poch is brave enough to play Sancho then I think i'd be very happy with that.

Sancho is younger than Marcus Edwards, so whilst we might offer him a realistic crack at getting first team minutes, he'd have to prove it in training to actually get time.
