If Pav is leaving come January, would Beattie be a possible option given his fall out with Pulis at Stoke? He puts himself about and knows how to find the net. I know going from Pav to Beattie might be seen by many as trading in your Mercedes for a Ford Fiesta, but he's experienced in this league, speaks English, puts in 100% and may be content to be at a club like Spurs playing even if he doesn't play every game.

Don't like his style of play.. he plays for stoke for a reason.. also, 2 goals in 14 games. No thank you.

A definite no, the thought of swapping Pav for Beattie.....

Would much much just rather Gio as our 4th striker.

I said this last year. I don't think it's pressing now though to be honest. I'd rather just have the one centre forward until the summer when we can reassess if needs be. I think with Modric coming back we're good enough to play along the floor,So Gio will get more chances, and we don't need Beattie. Underrated player though.

He's got almost 100 goals in the top flight, would be cheap and do a job in the short term if called upon. Maybe we should buy Rasiak in January. That's what we did last time we were chasing top 4.

Handy player, proven Premier League scorer but....well.....not really a 'good' player is he?

I'd sooner just promote GDS to 4th and have him in the rotation.

Unless we're goiing to get someone of a higher calibre that who we already have (maybe an RVN type), then I think we should set Pav free and stick with what we've got.
Ok, a seroius injury may bend us over a little but surely we've got enough options as we are? Kranky, Modders, Gio, Lenny etc are all capable of playing up front to varying degrees of success.

Sh!t, I think I'd rather give Tommy Hudd a stint up front before Beattie - stand him just outside the box and ping balls to him, long and short, and let him pass them on or have a pop...you know, that might not be a bad idea...!!!

Dawson has a better goal scoring record this season, as do Kranjcar and Lennon.

our best option to resolve the striker situation is to sell Pavlyuchencko in January, do a deal to offload Keane to Celtic then get Carlton Cole from West Ham to play alongside Defoe, with Crouch on the bench and Giovani as backup. that would be a great set of options to have. Beattie is an absolute no-go, although he is a good player and under-rated.

Also, was it last season or the season before that, during a televised game, Beattie was running along behind an opposition player, both chasing the ball and upon realising that he wasn't going to reach it, somehow managed to blatantly head-butt the other player in the back of the head.
It was quite possibly the best (for all sorts of strange reasons!) head-butt I've ever seen!!!

A great footballing moment - a bit like Jenas' "hello sailor" attempt at marking the post from a corner whilst at Newcastle!!

We dont need a 4th striker to replace Pav. Have plenty of back up. If Keane was to go then we'd need someone.

no that would be disasterous, cole had his chance to join us but instead decided to turn up for the medical drunk, plus he really is an average striker who only looks good due to the shite he is surrounded by, he's found his club and they are welcome to him

That was years ago mate while he was playing for Everton against Chelsea. Think it might have been on Gallas.

Was one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen on a football pitch!

I disagree, he used to be immature but has been the second best target man in the Premiership this past two seasons for me, with Drogba the only player of that ilk who has outshone him. he is quick, strong, has touch, can head it as well as being a good finisher and link man in terms of bringing others into play.

where did you get the drunk thing from?

He is doing okay at Stoke, and it is a good club for him - again, we do not need or want another striker - not sure we ever needed 4, but unless anyone forgets - Gio is listed on our website as one of our 1st teams 6 strikers!!

Gallas? That makes sense then, we'd all get hit by an irresistible urge to nut him!!
Was it really years ago - I am getting old.
Where is my life going?!
Bloody funny though...

Pav is not a bad player over night. Although he wants to go, he is contracted to us and I would assume knew there would be competition for places before he signed. If we do need his services through injury or loss of form from the others, then hold him to the contract. Harry may not rate him, but if I was him (Pav) I would go all out to prove Harry wrong and therefore make myself "undropable"!!

If I were him i would go all out to get a move home to CSK! he is and will always be a bench warmer at Spur, unless someone leaves or gets injured, bet that makes him feel great and really want to get on that training pitch everyday!

If we can do any sort of deal in jan, he will be gone!
