I don't like bands based on their awards haha

Nor do I. Did I say that you should?

To make that statement, that he shouldn't like the band, seemed to suggest that there is some objective standard that you were applying...and if it's not critical assessment, awards or respect in the industry then it's your own subjective opinion. And if so, I'm struggling to see why you'd criticise someone else for not sharing it.

Tells you all you need to know about Squawka then

No, just better in the air, and to be honest my impression was that he was winning a lot of his aerial challenges last season, even if the rest of his game was pretty ho-hum. Should have made that clearer.

Vertonghen quotes from Belgian Radio 1

"It's obvious I want to stay at Tottenham. I still had a 4 year contract so the fact that they've offered me a 5 year contract is a big vote of confidence"

On his ankle injury "I want to be cautious with it, cause a season like last season where I went from one injury to the next, is something I definitely want to avoid."

"At the end of the summer break you always look forward to link up with the lads again and we have a new manager so yes, I'm looking forward to return to work at Spurs."

"We are in talks about a new contract. We both want to come to an agreement."

"If I didn't want to extend I wouldn't have opened talks. I don't want to betray the club's trust in me."
I really hope those are real quotes.

This boy has one awful attitude, regardless of the fact he has gone on record and said (more than once) that he wants to stay, i know he's a bad egg because he never smiles. Ever.

Jan Vertonghen says Spurs have offered him a new 5-year contract
Kyle Bonn

Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen, who helped Belgium defeat the United States in the World Cup, is set to remain at Tottenham for the forseeable future.

Despite currently on a contract until the summer of 2016, Spurs have offered the 27-year-old a shiny new 5-year deal that would keep him at White Hart Lane until 2019.

“It goes without saying that I would like to stay at Tottenham Hotspur,” said Vertonghen speaking to Belgian Radio 1. “I still had a contract for four years. They offered me new contract of five years, I see as great sign of confidence.”

Vertonghen has made 57 Premier League appearances with Spurs in the last two seasons, mainly at center-back but also moving to left-back while his club weathered a severe injury bug throughout last season.

He was named to the PFA Premier League Team of the Season in the 2012/13 season.

Sky Sports speculates Vertonghen would receive a significant boost to his wages with the new deal, listing his current salary at around $4 million a year.

The defender also said he tweaked his ankle during the World Cup, and has yet to return to preseason training with Spurs. “I want to be careful, because season like the previous one where I went from one injury to another I absolutely want to avoid,” Vertonghen said.

The London club has been very quiet this summer in the transfer market, only recently breaking through with a rare player swap as the team acquired Ben Davies and Michel Vorm from Swansea City.
