i'd be happy to sell him for 50mio. but not in late times. we could get at least 20mio defender + morgan/depay for that money which is epic business.

Nope, still can't see it happening. If Barcelona offered that then we might have sold him- but to United? I can't see it in a million years.

Very unlikely because of the price Levy would quote them. He might even quote them 50 million.

If they went mad enough with a ridiculous offer mark my words Levy would sell. Not that I think they will of course.

Do people actually think we'd sell to United? Don't bother telling me about Berbatov and Carrick because it's irrelevant. Have we sold one of our main players to a rival since 2008? No, we haven't and we never will after the Berbatov and Keane shit.

One reason is that Spurs - apart from Bale and Modric - haven't had players that interested the top EPL big time.
If you think the Carrick Keane and Berba cases are irrelevant then you know little about football playes and their agents. The reason why Modric was not sold to Chelski (they were the one's who turned his head in the first place) was that Real M. came in with a better bid the following season.

Agree with most of this.

Levy's preference will be to sell them across the water...it angers fans to see them go to bigger Clubs in this League, especially rivals - and particularly if its done regularly.

But he'll set prices for both instances, and will accept a slightly smaller offer for a preferable destination overseas I'd imagine. If Chelsea had offered 50 million for Modric, he'd be a Chelsea player, its that simple.

There is no evidence United are interested in Verts anyway apart from one guy who said they could go after him.

This has been worrying me for a while. I reckon this is possibly the hold up with Vertonghen. He's been made aware of possible interest of Utd and this has delayed the signing of a new contract.

Hasn't he only got 2 years left on his current deal as well ? Means we won't be getting top dollar for him either.

A reliable journalist on Twitter said he actually has 4 years left because of the way we do contracts...

Edit: And ITK says he's actually already signed it.

So weird that his contract hasn't been announced. Surely multiple ITKs couldn't be wrong about a contract? But why would we take weeks on weeks to announce it? Strange

We had some itk that said we play the media game now and announce stuff at a time that gets maximum exposure. Maybe we're waiting until jan is ready to play in the first team again ie announce it Friday/Saturday before qpr on Sunday for maximum feel good factor.

Just a theory, if not that then as others say it's a bit strange.

The only valid argument to this post...is because it ain't signed...IMO.

I guess so. Just seems weird how so many ITK's were so adamant. I know ITK should be taken with salt but it's a contract which you'd guess would be easier to know than a transfer

Another possibility could be that whilst we haven't announced Verts contract, teams looking for a CB will consider signing him rather than our target(s), maybe a week after we get a CB (or the the transfer window closes) this will be announced.

One thing to consider is, if he has signed, there is nothing to gain by announcing it straight away (unless the timing just happens to be right), so if we do play the media game as a few have suggested, it's plausible that he has signed and we are just delaying it to time it right.
