Don't care who plays in defence for us as long as Hugo and Poch are confident in them. I reckon it would take 20-30m to get Vertonghen anyway.

First it was Sandro to be moved on this summer.

Then Lloris' name cropped up.

Now it's Vertonghen.

It seems that every summer Spurs sell their best player. I wouldn't be surprised if one or more of the above left.

There's all this talk from the Club about top four. Surely that's just talk? A Club with real top four aspirations would hang on to its best players. Suarez was very vocal last summer in that he wanted to leave Liverpool. The Club forced him to stay. Liverpool nearly won the league title.

Is Tottenham Hotspur serious about Champions League football - or is this just posturing?

Spurs need quality - not quantity.

A club serious about Champions League will hang on to its best players and invest in top-quality additions.

Where does Tottenham Hotspur stand?

Barcelona ITKs on Twitter saying they've heard nothing about Vertonghen.

Also:

1. As if Levy would put a buyout clause in his contract.
2. Imagine Levy selling him for £17.5million. LOOOOOOOOOOOL. At least double that.

I do not know how credible this source is. Also,

"Sources told us that one of these clubs is indeed Barcelona, and the Blaugrana are willing to pay his full buyout fee, of €22 million. If Tottenham agrees, which they seem to do, Barça and the player could be already negotiating personal details."

First is that Vertonghen has a buyout? I doubt this. Does any player at the club have a buyout. It would be surprising when you consider the chairman. Second is that "if Tottenham agrees, which they seem to do" is not very decisive language.

Levy isn't stupid enough to have a release clause in a contract, unless it was the only way to secure the player in hand.

Two years left on his deal. He either signs a new deal or he is sold this summer. Levy just won't let him stay one more season when he will only have a year left on his deal. To much of a risk losing him on the cheap or worse for free.

As for Verts form last season he was not one of our best players. 20-25m is a fair deal.

Barcelona want to pay maximum 15M for Mathieu, Valencia ask 20M. Next week could be decisive. Tottenham's Vertonghen is the alternative [as]

I think once we tell them how much Verts will cost, they'll quickly decide to give Valencia what they want.

If they are willing to pay 15M for Mathieu, Vertonghen would cost them 50M.:D

Why should we be taking notice of 'barcastuff' ? Are they any good ? Do they have a track record for being accurate ?

barcastuff just report what other sources have (like HotspurRelated for us) so the question is is their source, in this case the paper AS, accurate.

Not particularly as far as I'm aware.

So we have no idea of the value of this "info" ?
