He could have taken a leaf out of Modric's book.

Last night the 25-year-old spoke to Sportsmail from his holiday boat and said: ‘I want to leave Tottenham as friends. I have enjoyed my time there, but now it is right for me to look at another club.

'I have an arrangement with the chairman. When I signed my new contract, he said that, if another club came to sign me, they would consider the offer.’

Modric said that at the beginning of the transfer window to try and force a move, Leandro's quotes were said after the window closed. What possible good could it do to come out and say that he want's to leave when he's going to be stuck there for another 5/6 months at the least?

"I'm disappointed that we wasted 14-15m on Sigurdsson and Dempsey, when that money could have been perhaps better spent on one better quality player."

Who said this, BC?

I'd stand by it too. It doesn't contradict anything I'm saying. They are not the only players I wouldn't have bought either. And there are some in between that I didn't or don't rate but understand the logic of buying them.

Finding value for value sake isn't what I said. It's just one of the fundamental principles we must adhere to. We will all have our opinions on players, from Dempsey to Modric to Bent to Bentley to Pav to Defoe.

But it emphasises my point about value, because buying a dud is bad enough, buying a bad value dud is the biggest mistake you can make for a club like us who are dependent on good transfer dealings for a major source revenue.

I'm not knocking you chaps I just thought we got him for a lot cheaper than £8m, I knew it wasn't a freebie but I never saw anything thrown around.

Quite surprised that our dear leader turned down 10m for him if this is true, especially with our 4.5m loss and all that.

And Holtby coming in not to mention Mason waiting in the wings.

In your opinion, do you think he wants to come to Tottenham?

Are we talking about BC's criteria when it comes to buying/signing players or Tottenham's criteria?

Tottenham's criteria are flexible. We like to sign young talent but it doesn't stop us from signing players in their late twenties. Or even players the wrong side of 30.

I want to know if your criteria are flexible.

Levy has shown he's prepared to venture outside the parameters occasionally but not far and not that often. We don't sign too many players the wrong side of 30 though (even 28), and nor should/can we. And when we do, they are usually of very high standard, we usually pick them up on a free and put them on very short contracts (1-2 years). I think Scott Parker is certainly an exception but generally you can't be filling your team with high wage, zero inherent value commodities.

Can you explain to me the difference between a dud and a bad value dud?
