Ar5ena1 are on the verge of buying Nasri though aren't they? Isn't he a central midfielder? Well, if thats true at least hes willing to come to London. In terms of 1st team opportunites (If gooners buy Nasri) I'm sure we can offer him a lot more. So I'm hoping the thought of being a pretty much definite part of our spine will persuade him.

Nasri would be a replacement for Hleb or Rosickly. Makoun would be a replacement for Flamini. I say this because I have so many other people I would prefer to be in our spine.

Did anyone else actually read the bit about Arsenal being his preferred destination?

If that's true, then this thread is totally pointless.

And refutes the ITK about Makoun and the other bod signing Friday.

Not really. Arsenal were mentioned as being main contenders for his signature as soon as it came out that he wanted away. Treat the ITK with a pinch of salt, and treat Arsenal being his 'preferred' choice with another—that may just be a journo's opinion.

Tottenham Hotspur are set to be unsuccessful in their bid to sign Lille's Jean Makoun, according to reports emanating from France.

Want-away midfielder Makoun is rumoured to be attracting interest from Spurs, Arsenal and also Serie A side Juventus.

Tottenham have reportedly made an offer for the Cameroon international, but it is believed that he is keen to join a club that will play UEFA Champions League football next season.

Juventus are expected to make a formal approach in the coming days, while it is suggested that Makoun is low on the list of The Gunners' targets as they look for a replacement for Mathieu Flamini.

Ligue 1 champions Lyon are also thought to be interested in the 25-year-old; however the club has yet to launch a bid.

With both Makoun and Alonso being heavily linked with Juve, I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up making another bid for Tiago. I'm sure when we moved for him in Jan, we'd have already been planning a big move for Modric in the summer, so I can't see why things would have changed massively. Maybe there are more players available now, so we have more options to consider, but Ramos can't have gone from being on the verge of spending £8 million on a player, to not wanting him at all.

I think from memory there was talk that he (or his agent) massively annoyed multiple parties in discussions in the last window. Agree Ramos may not have changed his view but I can imagine DL not being as forgiving if he really did jerk us around as was rumoured.

I doubt it, he only just arrived at Juve last season.

And he was probably there best player since he arrived there. The Juve fans I know think he is great, makes me laugh every time, but I think he will keep his place.

As for Tiago, I get the impression now that our targets are significantly higher.

No offense, but it doesn't seem that you know much about him. As a Juve fan, I've followed his progress and so far he has been excellent. He is a shit passer of the long ball, but oh boy, he really does make it up with excellent athletism (the best CM in this aspect), extremly aggresive but very well timed tackles, good short passing and good dribbling.

He is a Dark Ninja

To be fair I didn't even give an opinion on him. I just said that he had been Juve's best player, and that the Juve fans liked him.

According to L'equipe, he'll be signing a 4yr contract for Lyon for 15m euros.

Jean II Makoun is a Lyon player

Jean II Makoun today signed a 4 year contract with Olympique Lyonnais. The transfer fee is 14 million euros plus 1 million in incentives. At OL, the player will wear the number 17 shirt, a number that had not been given out since the death of Marc-Vivien Foé.

Jean II Makoun today signed a 4 year contract with Olympique Lyonnais. For a long time his transfer from Lille to Lyon has been mooted, it had to happen! Regular talked about over the last few years, Jean II Makoun’s arrival at Olympique Lyonnais took form this afternoon. « It’s fantastic news , said a delighted Jean-Michel Aulas. The transfer fee is hefty (14 million euros plus around 1 million in incentives) as we were up against some big European clubs. We’ve been after him for a while now and this time the miracle happened and we managed to thrash out a deal. »

With the recruitment of Jean II Makoun - « one of Europe’s top defensive midfielders, a real star » as far as Jean-Michel Aulas is concerned, OL are showing their desire to be strong on both a national and European level . « He is one of the rare players that have both physical strength and technique, the qualities that we were lacking last season » notes OL’s president. His advisor, Bernard Lacombe, who aknowledged that they have been keeping an eye on the Cameroonian for a few years now, believes he has a profile similar to Jean Tigana, « with more power in front of goal », and underlines his « experience in the Champions League that will bring a lot to the club ». On his side, the former Lille player concedes that Lille’s non-participation in the european competition constituted a determining element in his arrival at Lyon and believes that he has « known everything with Lille » : « I want to step up a level, I needed a new challenge. It was the right time ».

As at Lille, Makoun will wear the number 17. A detail which is important as nobody had worn that number since the death of Marc-Vivien Foé, on the 26th of June. « In memory of Marco, for me and for all of Cameroon, it’s something emotional », recognised the player from Yaoundé. « The fact that Cameroon is once again alive at OL through Jean II is very strong and emotionally moving » declared Jean-Michel Aulas.
General footie please. A bit disappointing but life goes on and there are other DM's out there that are just as good.
