Apologies if I'm duplicating an existing thread but couldn't see one. Anyway, Mirror reporting a £6m bid from Stoke. I'd sell him and actually think he'd do well at Stoke, he better suits a mid table team who can play on the break but lacks the skill and intelligence needed to play against teams who park the bus.

agreed, and he could give them a better chance to stay up in this transition season, but I'm not sure he'd be willing to go there

I think he still sees himself as Bigger than Stoke. Newcastle or Everton would suot him well.

Think this could be a goer. Hughes will want to move away from the 'traditional' Stoke anyway...and they'll turn into a regular mid table Club who play a little football instead of fecking rugby.

Stoke aren't shy in getting the wallet out either. Could definitely see this being a serious option for him.

They won't pay his wages. Newcastle have tightened up even though there is plenty of money swishing about with the TV deals etc.

Everton don't have a pot to piss in regardless lol

Sorry but I think you are all mad. I think he's still got 20 goals a season in him and I would be gutted if we sold him off to anyone. Every player comes to the end of his time, and I don't believe Jermain has. Not yet. He's scored over 100 goals for the club and to hear him being spoken about as if he was yeasterday's news (whilst he's still good enough to play for his country on a regular basis), and as if he's shot his bolt is way off.

he's only managed 20 or more in a season twice in his career. Never 20 in the league.

I think 10-12 is more accurate and we should be looking for more.

I'd be content enough to keep him as our third choice striker. Behind 'Villa' and Adebayor. But I wouldn't want to see him start one league match. Impact sub is what he's suited to for us, but I don't think that is how he sees himself.

The way I see Defoe playing out this season is that he'll be involved with us for the first two league games, then we'll finally clinch Damiao towards the end of August, allowing us to quickly move Defoe on to a Newcastle, Stoke etc

You'd play Adebayor ahead of Defoe...? I can't believe you meant that.

I would play Villa ahead of both of them if he came here, but sadly, I don't think that's going to hapen for a number of reasons.

Like AVB did pretty much every time last season that both of them were fit you mean?

Defoe won't leave London, and with his bridges burned at West Ham, I'd say Palace or Southampton are his likely destinations, and probably more the former

Newcastle still pay high wages, just not high fees for players iirc.

Everton not having a pot to piss in is a bit of a misnomer. They have spent a fair bit over the last few years and I'm sure they can get the money together to bring in Defoe if they wanted too.

Yes, and Adebayor scored FIVE goals. That for me is indefensible.

If that is your only comment, you are probably better off just checking our results rather than watching the games, as you clearly miss every thing else that happens in a game other than the goals.

I really wouldn't use the 'still good enough to play for his country on a regular basis' as any kind of argument though. I'm still upset that Jake Livermore has more England caps than me.

Seriously your going to defend Adebayors performances last season, wow
