I see the thread has descended into nonsense. In an ideal world, all 3 of our front line would be taken to the incinerator this Summer. Unfortunately, I can't see us being so lucky ... so my preference would be bye bye Defoe, quickly followed by Dempsey and keep Ade on the basis that he can hold the ball up, rough defenders up and pull defenders out of position much for frequently than the double Ds.

typical huge miss of the point - congrats!

It's exactly the same. Still playing football. One of our all time leading scorers, who cares if he would be a hindrance on our football. We've got Defoe for that and it's all credit in the bank.

Defoe shoots too much and ade doesn't shoot enough, if we could somehow morph the two together we would have some kind of super striker.
But we cant ! personally I would like to keep defoe for the bench and cup games but ade as technically gifted as he can be, just doesn't look like he gives a shit, which can have an impact on the rest of the team's performance !

That's a good point actually. Sandro has been with us for almost 4 years now & has only scored 1 goal. Best think about moving him on ASAP!!

Chelsea away 2010/11.
Fulham away 2012/13.

The same "credit in the bank" you're referring to with Ade and his first season.

Read what I wrote earlier...

Defoe isn't capable of having a season like Adebayor did. It's nothing to do with credit for me, it's about who is the better player and offers (or at least is capable of offering) more to the team.

For me, getting rid of Defoe was the only thing Juande Ramos got right.

again blindingly obvious difference is that Bale, Lloris and Defoe have huge credit in the bank based on previous performances/goals scored. Whereas Adebayor is existing on an overdraft that would strangle an elephant

So Bale's ONE prolific season excuses him IF he doesn't repeat it again this season. Yet Ade's ONE prolific & productive season didn't/doesn't allow him the same grace? In Ade's ONE prolific & productive season, he actually contributed more than Bale did in his ONE prolific season. So why the difference in treatment?

As for Defoe, he has NEVER played well for more than half a season & even in the one season where he managed to score more than 13 league goals, the lions share of those goals came in 3 or 4 matches (a couple of hat-tricks & 5 against Wigan), and the other 5 or 6 were spread out over about 20 games. He has no credit in the bank whatsoever & should consider himself bloody lucky to be at a club that has aims like ours appears to have. I'd imagine there's a genuine reason that EVERY manager he's played under at THFC has ended up benching him in favour of other options? Even his biggest admirer (Redknapp) ended up doing just that, coincidence?

Maybe Bale's first prolific goalscoring season (due to a changed role in the team), but he's been brilliant for 3/4 seasons now, that's why the Bale/Ade comparison just doesnt work.

Of course it doesn't work. One has been with us for 6 years, the other has been with us for 2 seasons. The one that's been with us for 6 years was almost farmed out on loan because he was so unproductive in his first few seasons, yet you seem to be happy to forget all about that because it suits your opinion better? If you want a comparison that works, stop dismissing Ade after 2 seasons & compare him after 6 years lol.

No need to be patronizing, we all have our right to an opinion. Personally I agree with Spurslove, he was poor and 5 goals is a joke. I went from being a huge fan (during his loan season), to now wanting him out, so I'm hardly a Ade hater, I just judge on what I see. Those saying "oh but he holds the ball up really well blah blah blah" he's hardly Berbatov is he.
I was doing it to emphasise just how ridiculous the statement about Ade only scoring 5 goals is, as it neglects everything else he did. I'm not saying he was great last season but the flak the guy is taking is an absolute joke. Also I think his hold up play is different yet equally effective as Berbatov's who rather than creating space with movement does it through control and clever passing.

If I had to watch Ade in a Spurs shirt for the next 6 years I think I'd question what I have done in a past life to deserve such a punishment.

And I'm sure you were saying exactly those words 2 seasons ago

Of course I wasnt, no doubting on his day he can be a top striker, I question his attitude and effort more than his ability, and I was kinda joking with the "past life" thing lol.

Newcastle still pay high wages, just not high fees for players iirc.

Everton not having a pot to piss in is a bit of a misnomer. They have spent a fair bit over the last few years and I'm sure they can get the money together to bring in Defoe if they wanted too.

No they've trimmed their wage ceiling as well, I'm certain I've read that.

I doubt Martinez would want Defoe, and I couldn't see them spending that money on a 31 year old.

As does almost everybody, mate. Just you watch him come to life IF we get David Villa. As I've said countless times, it's no coincidence that Ade was on fire when he had the intelligence of VdV to play alongside. Villa is even more intelligent & is simply better in almost every department, than VdV is. So Ade, in my opinion will thrive again, unlike Defoe who has NEVER been able to strike up a partnership with anyone. Please don't respond with "he had a good partnership with Crouch", he didn't. It worked for about 3 games at Portsmouth & then everyone sussed it out & dealt with them easily.

£6m I would be tempted but think we could squeeze a bit more out of a buying club. In the PL his stock will be relatively high.

If he doesn't go this summer then it will be very disappointing. I still remember Liverpool away, probably the most disgusting performance by a football player I have ever seen. 20 goals a season man? Hahahaha.

I am also genuinely astounded that Adebayor gets tagged as 'lazy, bad attitude, doesn't get on with teammates' and Defoe gets a free pass on this sort of stuff.
How many games does Defoe go through where he only touches the ball 10 times in the match? He's a workaholic, fo' sho.
Who is the one often to be seen bitching and arguing in games about not passing the ball?

Sell Sell Sell Sell Sell Sell Sell Sell Sell.

SELL.

I guess we'll see, I hope you are right, I dont have anything against him personally, actually I think he's a cool guy, I just think if he'd have performed better we would have finished above The Scum, another 5-10 goals would have done it IMO. I'm also pretty sure he wont be sold this summer, he'd be too expensive for most Clubs interested, will be interesting to see how he performs anywayz.
