A JJ replacement from the French league coupled by a Sale for Jenas as part of a move for Young moving Modric in the centre (with Palacios being covered by the French lad) would make for a pretty successful window.

I fear however it would unfold more like a straight sale to Villa for JJ and the replacement coming in from the French league. An untested replacement with much potential to be the next Zokora.

I was wondering whether it's Villa who are the ones who need to seek redemption? (or us with them)...

Either way I think it might be regarding the relationship between the clubs rather than Jenas.

Though that's a guess on my part and thus subject to being totally wrong!! :-D

there is obviously no smoke without fire
its been pretty obvious that harry is trying to bring in more competition in his position
maybe he aint got the stomach for a fight , maybe harry has told him he wont figure in his plans , its going to be interesting we do sign any of the french lads we have been linked with. one thing for sure is jenas position as a regular starter definatly needs upgrading, in 4 seasons he has only shown a glimpse here and there of whats needed to be a top 4 player.

This transfer window sucks so far... get rid of some decent squad players and get in no one!

It is only more competition if you don't get rid of a player already there, if you do it's no more competition its just different.
I don't understand the top 4 player point, if we only signed top 4 players how many of our current squad would we have? Should we get rid of them all?

If we seriously wanted Young I cannot see Levy selling Jenas to Villa.

Unless its part of the deal to get Young?

I really hope JJ doesnt go, i think Young is a good player as isJJ but we ed a good CM more than wingers, with out a CM we will get riped apart alot more tan if we have great wide men but not so great in CM.

i have not read through this thread and i have just come off the ITK thread. now an alleged itk has just posted an insinuation that jj could be off, a month back HR stated we will not sell our better 1st team players and that included JJ. he stated he was not for sale. this was on sky news, when asked a question with the Villa links.

whilst out in China JJ was asked about the possibility of leaving and his words were that he is now used to such links and that every window this is spoken about and once agai he will not be leaving. Now hereing it from the manager and the player himself vs someone posing as a credible (not) itk??? i know who i am believing.

I have already concluded that the Ashley Young deal is dead and buried.

Agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments Yid-ol!

I hope that Jenas stays put. He forged a good partnership with Wilson in the second half of last season and see them bullding on that this season.
Having said that, if we link the players we've been linked than it'll probably make sense as with Young and Cattermole coming in i'd see us using Wilson and Cattermole as our main defensive minded midfielders along with the Hudd and O'hara for competition and the choice pairing of Modric and Young or Lennon with Bentley as competition.
I know in that sense the CM positions doesnt look as impressive as the 2 attacking minded midfielders but Cattermole and Palacios would give us the stability from the midfield while allowing the attacking minded players freedom and sufficient cover to attack.

We have our hopes

Jenas is a solid premiership player. Not the best in the world, probably not top 4 premier league, but then currently neither are we, and unless some zillionaire pops up from nowhere saying he's got the mighty cockeral tattooed on his left buttock and some serious wedge he wants to give us, it's probably not going to change.

Consequently, anyone who thinks we can simply eject Jenas and instantly replace him with something better is dense.

I could go on, but I can't be arsed.

Up the Spurs!

Jenas was quoted as injured for the Olympiacos game, however the running record of Premier League injuries (the Physio Room) has no record of him

... I think this is a very slim bit of evidence

I agree, good post. I can understand why MON might want Jenas, he is as you say a very solid PL player.
