Llorente?

Would certainly do the job, I just don't think he has even the slightest interest in joining us, or that we could afford his wages?.

I often get ridiculed for this opinion, but my number 1 striker choice would be Seydou Doumbia. He's one of very few strikers in the world who would actually be able to keep pace with/be on the end of, our stunning counter attacks with Bale & Lennon. Add to that his deadly finishing ability, his strength, his skill, his movement in & around the box, and his workrate, I think he'd be pretty damn ideal for our team & club.

That's just my opinion mind. Though I'm not too sure how willing CSKA would be to do business because they're not in need of the money that his transfer would bring in.

Not sure why you would be ridiculed for holding that opinion. He's a bloody good player. The price would be the thing that prevents us going for him should imagine.

Why not Ba, bad knees or not at 7m its a bargin.

Was it not well reported that, when he was at Wet Spam, we were interested but Levy discovered we wouldn't be able to gt insurance for him?. I'd not complain if we got him though, and think he'd thrive on any service he'd get from our midfielders.

I could live with replacing Livermore and Huddlestone with Moutinho and Sneijder

In fact I wouldn't shed a tear if Jenas and Bentley were sold in January also
Kinell, that would be a hammerblow. But yeah, I guess Moutinho and Sneijder would lessen the pain a tiny bit.

Let Ba go to chelsea where he'll no doubt be brilliant. Were he to join us, both his knees would blow out Kyle-from-SouthPark-stylee in the first minute of his debut. It's fate.

I agree - he is a lot better at holding the ball up than Ade (on his current form anyway). How long does it take to prove that the knee is not that bad - he seems to have done ok over the last eighteen months and he didn't look like a bloke with a dodgy knee in the game at the Emirates . Has the strength and pace we need, plus just the fact that we have a third option will give us more cover and may give Ade a bit of competition to motivate him to pull his finger out.

Would he even make it that far? I can visualise a farcical fall on the shiny floor of our spiffy new training centre followed by a plunge through a window onto somebody's souped-up Rangerover!

Oh I've had the whole "he's never even played in Europe, let alone in the PL" etc etc. I'm not so sure about the price though mate. The Chavs were reportedly interested back in the summer & the fee that was reported to be required for his signature was supposedly anywhere between £16mil & £20mil. Now, for a guy who only turns 25 today & has only got more prolific with every season that's passed (and his goals to game ratio is bloody phenomenal at club level), I actually think that's a pretty reasonable fee?

The problem with Ade at the moment is most of his work is outside the box crossing balls that he should be on the end of, with Ba all his work is mostly in the box that would help us out.

I don't understand why Ade is playing that as well. He's the 'big man' in the duo and he has to be in there at least challenging so that our poach (Defoe) can hopefully pick up any scraps. It's usually Defoe in there trying to win crosses which just does not register to me.

I sort of disagree, if that makes any sense whatsoever? The problem with Ade is he's not as good as he thinks he is & the fact that, I think, last season was his best ever in any league that he's played in? He's simply not, in my uneducated opinion, anything even close to resembling a natural goalscorer. Also, his heading is pretty damn crap!

It's probably because, in training, Defoe is a better header of the ball than Ade lol

Andy Brassel says Porto are about to buy Ismailov, an AM from Sporting Lisbon, don't know if that means anything though.

I think the bigger one to look out for is Hector Herrera. They were close on signing him, and he would be a similar talent to Moutinho, but Manchester United apparently started to poke around at the idea of a bid as well.

I would prefer if we loan out livermore just to say how good he can become and either way we should stand to make more money or have decent back up for Sandro whilst Luongo comes through

To elaborate, they are not the odds on the player joining Spurs before 1st Feb, they are the odds on the player joining Spurs IF (big IF) they leave their current club. By not moving at all, the bet becomes void and the stake is returned.

There is a huge difference. If a player is odds on within this market, it doesn't necessarily mean they are more likely to join us this window than not.

Now if you could find the "Moutinho to stay or leave in Jan" market, some simple maths could help work out the likeliness of the player coming.

I should also add that this is a ridiculously volatile market and a cash cow for bookies.

Bottom line, is I would take no notice of this market.

Sorry :(
Are you sure the stake gets returned? Ive never really bet on transfers cos i thought if they end up not moving the bookies still keep your money.

He scored 30 goals in all competitions for the Scum in 07-08, so that is not true...

You are in fact correct and I can only apologise. Skybet certainly used to void the bet, unsure when it changed.

If the player doesn't move, the bet is lost. I should have checked this as opposed to assuming it was the same as it was 2 years ago!
