But we are going to leave ourselves short again if injuries and suspensions pick up, which invariably they will. Yes we have made some good signings but we didn't invest enough across the whole squad. This is because we do not have the capital behind us.
Is it though? Or is it that the players we wanted for those positions were not available this window despite us trying hard for them?

This season's transfer window was about balancing and building the squad, We'll be able to get the big signings from next season onwards.

So why do we think they will be available and come to us next season. None were exactly dying to come to us as it was this season. We've been here too many times before. I'd rather move on to plan B. Then hope for plan A for a year and then end up with plan D because B and C have been snapped up. Plan A bastoni plan b Gvardiol plan C bremer. 2 are no longer options. What Happens if Bastoni doesn't come next season?

Oh boy... You don't think we did when we got our new French centre back? There's your Bastoni alternative right there.
You mean stop gap. A loan with no option is pointless. It's like being a market tester for the newest High tech gadget. If its amazing and its a one off someone richer will buy it. If its rubbish you won't want to keep it. Barca will sell to the highest bidder. Simple as that.

Would you want us to buy a player that Conte didn't really want just because we couldn't buy our main target or would you prefer we get a stop gap for a year who Conte is satisfied with who can do a job until hopefully our main target is available?

Asset has a voice mate. If he only wants Spurs then no, he doesn’t go to the highest bidder.

Contracts get a year shorter, other players come to the fore. Come on mate you know how things work, a year is a long time in football and tons can and will change.

Anyone not upset by this clearly has never watched him play. Bloke looks absolutely fucking mint, with outrageous stats to back it up. He is/was our number one CB target for very good reason.

I knew we were not going to be able to compete for his signature, but I'm still pissed off about this.
Upset?!
I get upset about my weekly food shop and the amount my bills are going up. I get upset when my ex-wife uses my kids as weapons to attack me.
I don't get upset about a football team signing a young player for a stupid amount of money.

Why were we not looking for alternatives? We have scouts don't we?
As already been explained by the ITKs a hundred times, Conte and Paratici do not want to sign players that are not quite what they want for the sake of it. The ones they want probably will be available in a window two, then (as you should already observe), it would be hard to get rid of these stop gaps.

If we are putting all our hopes in the Bastoni basket then God help us. If he has an amazing season why do people think he'd come to us. As he will be no.1 premium CB thays available next summer. Liverpool will be looking City will be looking United will defo be looking. As will Madrid and probably Barca. If we have an option and he proves to be great and we try for bastoni and he refuses at least we can sign him. We've given ourselves no outs. I have no issues with a stop gap but protect yourselves and if we are getting him purely as a stop gap/extra body then surely we shouldn't get praising this window. We had 190m to spend before whatever our initial budget was. We've spent just over half. Although I'm sure some bright spark will claim the romero expenditure as this window even though it would have already been budgeted for as it was an obligation. We've been outspent by west ham and spent 2m more than wolves did they have CL cash injection highest matchday revenue in world football, nfl boxing guns n Roses gaga and a 150m cash injection from the owners. If so I must have missed all that. West ham don't even own their stadium
