Regardless of any perceived new pecking order, once we knew Walker was off, then we needed a new full-back (preferably both-sided/versatile). Trippier/Trippier's injury has nothing to do with the need to replace Walker.

We've all seen this kind of situation multiple times before and left critical replacements to the last minute and it's not came off well...just was hoping for something a bit different after two consecutive CL qualifications.

Looks like an exciting player from youtube. Is he actually a good defender?
I don't think he's great defensively but IMO it is not a big concern for 2 reasons.
1. We play with wing-backs often where defensive responsibility is decreased.
2. Pochettino has an amazing record in improving full-backs in all aspects

Watched this guy vs Barca in the Mestella and he was very, very goood. Rapid, strong and got his foot in well. A lot for Poch to work with. He was probably Valencia's best player in a game they only lost through a last minute pen.

We knew Walker was leaving, now with Trippier's injury we're looking short in a key area with the start of the season looming yet again.

Frustrating déjà-vu.

fast forward to september first we will get the usual from a few ITK's: "Lessons have been learned" or similar. Same shit different year

It's frustrating from a fan's perspective but 1) you don't expect your starting RB to go down in a friendly and 2) the Walker money is meant to buy 3 players, not just a single replacement. We may have a replacement in mind, but we need other transfers to get cheaper so that we can afford all of our targets.

However, I don't think most supporters are super convinced that Trips should be the defacto starter and that a Walker replacement needed to be here regardless of Trips' fitness.

That is an absurd argument for why its ok to not have a viable backup.

I think this lad is the best RB out of the bunch we have been linked with. With 6 days left until the big K.O it would be nice to see some bids going in.

I mean really, how much is it really going to save us waiting until the last minute instead of going in now. A few hundred K? It's becoming a bit of a joke now.

Pretty sure KWP was seen as the back up, they just didn't expect him to be thrust into the firing line so quickly.

Anyway, this guy has fun Youtube videos doesn't he?! Looks like him and Dele would get on well. Nutmeg central...

Just watching this guys highlight vids. He seems to play like we thought Lamela would play like as the Bale replacement! Properly quick and powerful with lovely feet. I can see why some on here are saying he's potentially more of a forward than a defender... Looks a player.

Mina Rzouki, who's one of the best football journos around IMO, said on BBC5Live that Spurs are in for Cancelo, but face competition from Juve. She's a Juve fan IIRC.

If he's available for around £20m just pay it. This guy is probably going to become one of the best RB's in the world in a couple of years mark my words. No wonder Juve are sniffing around him, he's got Walker's pace and physicality along with a better end product imo, I watch Valencia regularly btw.

He'd be absolutely perfect for us in the RWB role and with Poch's defensive coaching he'll be a real force.
We'd again have the best RB's in the league, with Cancelo you'd have a good mix of pace and power to defend against the better explosive players such as Mane,Hazard, Sanchez. Then we could continue to use Trippier against the lower teams where he'll get more time and space to pick crosses.

Absolute no brainer and if we managed to get him in along with Barkley, and for example a pacy Winger/Forward such as Josh King or Keita. That would be an absolutely unbelievable window with the depth we'd have.

Then we'll be right up there competing on all fronts, i'm sure of it.

Looks like a tidy player - I just wish he was linked by some more trustworthy sources than the Mail and HITC...

Just seen a couple of videos on YouTube, gotta agree with the earlier post saying how Bale-esque he is, also the fact that he's in a better league (another previous post) just tips the balance in his favour over Perierra for me.

Juve will probably pay more for him than us gotta hope they drop out.
