Jenas, Hargreaves and probably Carrick

Jenas maybe, but don't agree at all with the other two. Carrick should be in the starting lineup for England let alone just in the squad. And Hargreaves performs well for England which has been a rare quality in England players recently.

Barton has deserved a few more chances in some of the daft friendlies, but I'm not sure he's ever make a final 22.

IF and it's an enormous IF, his attitude & obvious destructive qualities could be curbed then he would be a fantastic addition to our midfield as he is unlike any other player we have.
Look at almost all successful teams, they all have a nutter/animal in midfield...
I cant imagine Lennon/Malbranque/Jenas etc like playing against him and thats a good thing!
Obviously it could go completely pear shaped but as long as the situation was monitored and he was made aware that any problems with conduct would be severely dealt with then why not....
Add to that the fact that his price has just gone down dramatically, it could be the right time to take a chance?

Joey Barton IMO has reached his level. J Jenas has more gears left.

I wouldnt swap JJ for Barton.

I couldn't think of anyone who would disrupt our clubhouse more without even stepping in it than this guy. Well one, that **** Henry.

If we sign this kid, I could imagine Berbatov asking to go to Chelsea immediately. Who would want to play with him? He's a time bomb.

Barton imo is just another very good player below the international class level. We have plenty of players in his quality and while his ability would be a good addition to the squad his attitude and team work aren't worth it.

He's nothing special and we should look elsewhere

Barton better than Carrick?:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I never said that. I just think he'd have gotten in the squad over Carrick had clubs been reversed. Barton with as good a players around him as Carrick would be as influential as Scholes.

I've heard it all now. Barton with good players around him would be as good as Paul Scholes:bigeek .

Barton is on Robbie Savage level but with a few goals...miles over rated.

For me that sums up this whole argument perfectly. Good player, possibly slightly better than some of the players we have, but not worth the risk. Good work dontcallme...consider yourself rep'd.

put him in a team of good players up there challenging and he would be quality, i really dont think you would hear a peep out of him if he was playing for arsenal and felt like he was achieving.......put him in our side alongside zokora and they would dominate almost everyone.we would haveso much possesion....

Said it before and I'll say it again. If, and that's a big IF, we can get him to sort his personal problems out, (stop him being a ****) He could be an amazing player for us - in a Roy Keane type of way.

At the end of the day I can't see him changing his ways so I wouldn't want him anywhere near WHL.

Hearsay, tish and fipsy

It may be, and it's your prerogative to disbelieve it; after all, you're in denial over the facts. But I'm sure that if I had reported ny brother-in-law had said he's a good lad, loves his mum, bit of a wild streak, you'd happily have believed that. ITK and stats; cherrypick the ones you like, dismiss those you don't.

What's really ridiculous is that this has come not on the back of Barton staying out of trouble for a year or eighteen months, but on his having beaten the shit out of a team-mate. This wasn't the usual training-ground handbags, he was kneeling on Dabo's chest punching him repeatedly, blood everywhere. He had to be dragged off. And suddenly it's 'Wow! What a fantastic opportunity!' FFS…

He is not going to change. He's 25 this year, not 19-20. He's had at least £250k's worth of fines and it hasn't made a blind bit of difference to his behaviour. Pearce hasn't been able to turn him round, and Jol won't be able to either. About the one coach who might is Keane, and I wouldn't give too much for his chances, either. Funnily, City fans seem to think Sunderland is where he'll go.

Thankfully, this is probably all academic, because even if Jol and Comolli were mad enough to consider putting in an offer, I very much doubt Levy would countenance it. He was supposed to have been iffy about Mido because of the Shehata bust-up, and how that would reflect on the club. How would the idea of a genuine psychotic grab him? You guess.

Spurssince57 has always had a downer on Barton. Give him a chance he would do wonders in our midfield.
