I don't see how this is relevant at all? Money spent doesn't mean we bought well.
Money spent on the right players is very much relevant. Man City have one of the greatest managers in football but guess what they still spend money.

People on here saying in hindsight that Sissoko should have played to offer Doherty cover...

Can you imagine the apoplexy that would have ensued had we played him and got "only" a point (which also in hindsight, we would all rip an arm off for now)?

As if you would have been on with that. As if!

I just don’t understand why why didn’t switch to. 442 on Sunday. Move Lucas to cover Tierney and Son on the left and Bale as a free role up with Kane.
Yeah and 442 worked well against Arsenal at home last season. I was surprised he didn't seem to really do anything to solve the issue down our right until about an hour in. With Bale I think you have to accept that his quality in attack outweighs his lack of defending. Leave him up top and stick with the likes of Lamela and Moura to do the tracking back. They both offer good work rate and energy but nowhere near the quality in attack that Bale has so you don't sacrifice attack in favor of them defending.

OUT. The football is crap, the tactics are appalling, Jose is lucky the fans aren’t in the stadium or he would be driven out. This is like a slow motion AVB. I accept Levy may keep him on till end of season, I don’t want to see him here next season.
Not sure what game you’re watching. Before the arsenal game we was playing some lovely attacking football the last 5 games. Hence why we scored so many goals. One game we take our foot off the pedal and the pitchforks come out again. This really needs to stop!

Put Bergwijn or Lamela in front of Doherty instead of Bale and he doesn't get so exposed. Put Sissoko in instead of N'Dombele and Doherty is less exposed. We were actually set up more attacking vs Arse than we were vs Palace. Doherty was shit but Serge would have struggled as well cos we left him high and dry with no backup. Arse saw that and capitalised on it.

Lack of intensity from our big players in a NLD is totally unacceptable though, and I include Kane in that.

As for blame, its not an either/or situation for me, they all need their heads banging.

Or, if you're going to expose the RB to a lot of defensive pressure, how about picking Japhet Tanganga who can actually defend. I still have no idea though why Mourinho refuses to spread the load with 3 in CM instaed of a pivot. It's the root of our problems both defensively and getting forward.

The thing is Bale cuts in constantly. If you play a defensive right back behind him then you've completely lost any width on that side. The opposition fullback can basically go man for man with Bale, the left side centre back can back up the fullback and the space Bale would look to exploit completely disappears.

And you trust Bale to do what he's meant to do and beat his man. A CB coming across to help out is a plus in my book.

Play Aurier or Tanganga instead of Doherty works for me . If you feel the full back is exposed because Bale does not tackle back then to compensate for this tell the right back whoever he is just defend and do not go forward as it will leave us exposed because lets face it Bale is not going to tackle back more because he has not got the engine he had . Bale going forward is what is important to us not his defensive qualities or more like lack of defensive quality .
Telling the Full back to just defend wasn't the issue, it was the overload. He was always stuck in no man's land not knowing whether to go with the LM or the LB. Whichever he went with the other got the ball. It really was a tactics issue, not personel. Why Jose did nothing to address this I have no idea. Or on the flip side perhaps he tried to get Bale and NDom to help the full back and pulled them because they didn't. I don't know what the reasons were but this one's on Jose imo.

This is one thing that has been pissing me off since he returned from Injury. Why is Jose refusing to let Japhet play? He had so many games last season, I don't understand why he isn't being played more this season.

To be fair Aurier is the first choice, and Doherty had been improving of late.

I still think we started with a front four with a game plan to press them high but the players for some reason didn’t do it. What I don’t understand is why didn’t he switch it when it’s bloody obvious that the pressing isn’t happening and the right side is getting exposed.

Shifting Moura right would have been the right move. But then Son got injured and maybe that changed whatever plans were being made? Either way it was a disaster, I was listening to the first half on the radio and could hear how much Doc was getting roasted.

Bale was giving Tierney a free run at Doherty which was a concern voiced by many in all the pre match chat.
