I dont but if we bid 10m EUR and a report says PSG 9.5m we have bid more

Our offer was a Levy incremental deal, 7 million dollars plus another 3 million in performance clauses that might never be achieved. Plus Estudiantes wanted a 20% sell on clause which Levy was never going to agree. The biggest sell on clause he's ever approved appears to be 10% for Kyle Walker. Making an offer which included performance clauses for a young player makes sense to me.

#EDLP Estudiantes have rejected $7million and $3 million more in bonuses from Tottenham for Juan Foyth. They expect an improvement from England

Note that the PSG offer is in Euros and apears to be all up front - ie no performance clauses.

Then there's Ossie85's information below about the real size of the PSG offer being nearer 13 million dollars.

As I said before, it's too much what they want. And the 20% sell on clause was never gonna happen. People here can't believe he's leaving for that much money. He doesn't even have 10 games for the first team.
Too bad we missed out on him, but I totally understand our reluctance to pay more.
Contrary to what some said PSG didn't bid the same as we did. They are reporting Estudiantes will get 10.5m net. That must be like 13m or more (dollars)

@yanno thats exactly my issue which offers are correct ??

Sure we aren't inside the deals so don't know the full details.

But if Estudiantes accepted PSG's offer and refused ours, it's fairly safe to assume that the PSG offer was better. And that is precisely what the figures in my post above suggest, as future performance clauses may never be achieved, and 9.5 million Euros (which equates to nearly 11 million dollars) is better than 7 million dollars plus 3 million in performance clauses.

Anyway, the far more interesting question is will Foyth have the cojones to defy Estudiantes, refuse to go to PSG and insist on joining Spurs.

I know that Estudientes are in serious financial trouble and I believe Veron has put quite a bit of his own money into keeping them afloat. They will, quite rightly, be looking for every penny they can get for Foyth.

They are not in financial trouble.
They owe AFA 50m pesos, and they will get punished if they still owe it at the start of the new season. But 50m pesos y something like 3m euros. They can easily cover that with a small sale. They are selling their best player too (Ascasibar)

I've just read that article

It's true. Even though the PSG offer was accepted and ours not, the player prefers us. That's not to say he will reject them, but if we matched the offer he would choose us

It also says Estudiantes expected an improved offer from us, but we didn't make one yet

This is only guesswork but I'm starting to doubt if the PSG offer is really true or they are using it to make us improve our offer

Thanks.

I suspect Foyth had a constructive talk on the phone with Poch, and he & his family feel he has a better chance of developing as a player at Spurs under an Argentine coach rather than Roma or PSG.

If the player wants to move to Spurs, I can't see Levy budging much on his offer. He certainly won't agree a 20% sell on fee, but might concede a smaller percentage (somewhere between 5-10%).

Is he any good?
I've only seen his U20 WC highlights from last month.

He looked very tidy on the ball, composed dribbling and accurate passing.

But I've seen it mentioned a few times that he's a fair way off being PL ready.

Will still end up at Spurs I think veron is good friends with poch and the kid wants to play in the premier league

If poch wants wants his fellow Argentinan that much I'm sure we can get the deal done.

I know very little about this lad So I will trust our scouts and managerial set up. Can't see us agreeing to a loan back though . I would imagine we would want him in now and to get use to English and premier league conditions soon as...

Just read another interview where he says that he started playing as a number 10, then he was placed as a DM and lately as a CB. That would explain why he's so calm with the ball

He also talks about his height, and he confirms he's 1.87m tall

I think that none of that matters if we don't get a bid accepted.
He may wait a few days for us to match the bid, but he won't reject PSG.

Can he actually defend though??

All well and good being decent on the ball but his primary role is being able to defend.

Levy is simply putting the ball back in their court by saying, we are not paying that much, you know what we have offered, it won't be a penny more.

I foresee them coming back to us within a few days and agreeing a deal with us.
