The players were magnificent throughout. But a special word for Juande Ramos.

He got it right with his initial team selection and gameplan. We dominated from the kickoff and were unlucky not to be infront early on. Then we got reckless defensively, gave away a series of freekicks on the edge of our box (mainly due to Zokora), and eventually, Drogba bluffed Robbo on one of them.

But Ramos (probably with the help of Gus) kept our confidence high, and then changed formation in the second half. He put Huddlestone on to match up against their three CMs, and we started bossing them again. Juande read the game like a maestro, and he outfoxed Grant & his negativity.

We dominated them, and earned the break we got with the handball.

And then, when we went 2-1 up, he closed the match out by putting Kaboul on.

Ramos = The Real Special One!

6 cup final wins out of 6 for Ramos, and hopefully the first of many for us.

In game situations he just sees everything so clearly and how to changes things. Just amazing.

That result could be the watershed that we need for the belief and morale that comes with winning titles.

A tactical battle, a final, the maestro outplayed his opposition despite adversity from the scoreboard, his limited availability of choices and a ref who added time during the OT like if it only ended with chelski scoring.

But that was never going to happen, because Don Juande Ramos is a Winner. End of discussion, Spurs onto the next level.

And yes, we are finally able to say that we have the level and results to claim a spot within the top 4.

Glory, glory for our present and future.

I think it is the defining moment. Now, Ramos and the players know that they can match one of the big 4s and even outplay them. Even when he get even more of his players in for next season.

We now have a squad who not only believes they can win silverware, but they know it too. Because they just did it. No more choking. We have belief!

Not sure if Chimbonda agrees with you, but that is his opinion and his alone.

Good to see Ramos go up the steps and lift the trophy as well.

Great decisions from Ramos, starting line up worked a treat, as did both the subs, just what the doctor ordered.

Chimbo will get a lot of stick for walking down the tunnel after the substitution. It was the wrong thing to do.

But, I remember the first FA Cup Final against Man City when Ricky Villa was substituted and stormed off down the tunnel. Burkinshaw picked him for the replay and the rest is History! Chimbo did come back out to the bench, and celebrated like a lunatic at the final whistle. For the moment he's still a yid for me.

But this thread is about Juande. He's got the players believing in themselves and his tactics, and the upside from today's win is awesome. The players' confidence in him will be even greater, and we don't have to enter the sodding Intertoto Jug. In the summer, we should be able to attract the two or three top class players we need to take us to the next level, whilst keeping the likes of Berba.

Don Juande - the Real Special One!

I said a couple of months ago that Juande was the most important person at the club and we need to do everything we can to keep him for the rest of his career!
If we can we will be a very very successful team!

Ramos was superb today. I did raise my eyebrows at a couple of subs he made but fair play to the bloke it certainly worked!

Here's my take on the Maestro's reasoning:

Sub #1: The Hud for Chimbo was because he wanted an extra body in CM, and the Hud's passing ability. To get an extra CM on, he had to take a wide midfielder or a FB off, and Pascal, unluckily, got the hook.

But with the Hud in CM, we started bossing their central three, and the Hud in particular spread the ball around very well.

Sub #2: once we'd equalized, Malbranque was more of a risk at LB. So Juande put Teemu on for him, because he thinks he's better defensively. That's the reasoning for me.

Sub #3: Keano said he had a hamstring twinge. I suspect Juande may have made the switch to 3 CBs anyway. Anelka had moved more centrally, and putting Kaboul in there alongside the King and Woodgate made us very solid. Both sets of players were knackered by Extra Time, and for once Ramos took the safer option of a CB rather than another striker.

The key one for me was putting Big Tom on. The change in formation and the decision to put a CM who passes like a Quarterback on was the match winner. It takes cojones to change formations that radically during a big match, and Juande has plenty.
