Apparently he looked pissed off for being subbed, and didn't give Ramos a hug. Zing!

Obviously, we're not out of the press speculation frenzy just yet, what with Juande being a bit new. Ultimately, just because Keano hugged Ramos and the other subs didn't means jack shit, but there have been signs of prima donna behaviour from some of the players this season. If Kaboul did or does kick up a stink for being subbed, I see this as an ideal opportunity for Ramos to impose his authority on the dressing room, because one of the first things that needs to be sorted is the players' attitudes.

It was obvious that they wanted to show Juande what they could do tonight, but that's temporary. In the long term he will have to show them who's boss. Apparently, he doesn't accept uppity behaviour from the players and it will be interesting to see who gets the sharp end of his tongue in the coming weeks.

This is exactly what we need, someone who's going to put the players in their places, a bit of discipline and hard work is what they need cause it seems they had it easy under Jol.

Ramos looks they type that's not going to take crap from anyone. Instead of throwing a strop, Kaboul should look at why he was substituted and work on that side of his game and then maybe Ramos won't be so quick to take him off again.

Yeah I heard he was having a STINKER.

Probably just annoyed with his own performance.

I heard he just went to his seat. No hissy fit. The commentators mentioned it anyway and said he was not complaining etc. They also said he had his WORST game in a Spurs shirt.

ramos made changes, we scored soon after. Awesome.

Kaboul had an off day. Kaboul has got a lot to learn about defending in English football. Its not at all like the continent were your given time and space..... he will learn.

with big regret, i didn't see the game as it wasn't on TV, but i heard it on BBC radio and knew something about his performance, and Team's rating could be enough to convice that he had bad game.

But i don't know why people treat him like this after every game, people also complained about his performance against Blackburn and talked about all defenders against Newcastle. Just because made some runs and we conceded some goals ? Did we conceded a goal when he was upfront ? can't see him blamed at all against Blackburn.

Now he just have one bad game but apart from that, he shouldn't be treated as poor signinging, his performance is impressive until now, let alone he is young and new in EPL and you can see that by looking at Owen how struggled against him (Newvastle) and i didn't see Van Persie against Arsenal as any other games ( may be for the same reason ) ..

I don't think I could have put it any better myself

Kaboul at times looks worryingly out of his depth for £8m (I think that’s what we paid for him), I hope we can get a good solid experienced central defender in come January; someone like Melberg at Villa would be top of my list (rumours are he wants away from there anyway).

the defence as a whole (and definitely dawson) looked much better with chimbonda at cb.

Stalteri to start at rb next game imo.

I didn't see any sign of a strop. I did see Ramos throw up his hands a few times, though, so not a happy bunny.

It was a poor performance, but he'll learn. Remember how shaky Vidic looked at times in his first half-season, and he was a much more experienced player to begin with. It's hardly his fault that Jol and now Ramos have had to chuck him in at the deep end. What was noticeable was how much more comfortable Dawson looked once Ramos made the change.

it was a good sub by Ramos. shows he aint afraid to make a change if someones having a glaring stinker. even if a ready made replacement isnt on the bench.

I couldnt see Jol doing the same tbh.

I think that it was significant that Ramos made early substitutions. Kaboul was taken off around the 55 minute mark. Jol would never had done that. Thought the substitutions were great although Bent looks out of his depth at present.

Not so sure about the Stally bit, but you're right about the subsitutition. Daws looked considerably better with Chimmy by his side.

Stalteri and Chimbonda are experienced players who can both play anywhere accross the defense .

Until we achieve some solidity and Kaboule learns some discipline then they might be a better option .

I agree with you on the Kaboul substitution, but I think a factor (apart from his general defensive ineptitude, in which he was far from alone) was that he had just got himself into a mess, scythed his opponent down to get out of it, then harangued the ref for some time as he was being booked, risking being sent off for dissent. Ramos certainly showed a no nonsense approach, even if the substitution, though it came off, was highly risky and smacked not of tactical nous, but of retribution for Kaboul.

I disagree on the other two substitutions. In terms of the game I thought they were pointless, and rather than adding to the performance, took away our impetus, notwithstanding Defoe's first minute or so, when he looked dangerous. Perhaps he wanted a look at Defoe and Bent, but in that case, perhaps each should have been given more time.

Yes, I think we're in danger of getting carried away here. I was a little surprised Ramos didn't send Boateng on for Zokora or Jenas, neither of whom was anything to scream about. Scream at, perhaps.

Salty RB for me on Sat

Kab & Daws must be the worst or very nearly worst pair of CBs in the Prem

we certainly don't have time for them to bed themselves in - we're in relegation scrap

Ramos has stated he took Kaboul off because he'd picked up a yellow, and presumably was worried about him getting a red. However, this could be cover for the fact that Juande realized Younes was having a stinker, and he needed to act. So, he hauled him off, and then protected Kaboul's dignity in public with the yellow card excuse. Privately, I hope he jets Naybet in straight away to start coaching the De-Fence.

Bottom line though is that, in subbing Kaboul early in the second half, Ramos showed he's not afraid to make a decision. Given we had no defensive cover on the bench, and he had to put Tainio at RB and move Chimbonda to the middle this showed real courage, and if it had backfired, you bet Juande would be getting slaughtered on the messageboards. I'm delighted he showed some courage.
