Not everyone we sign is gonna turn out top drawer. Not even Alex Ferguson boast a record that's 100% perfect (Forlan, Anderson, Djemba Djemba, and no doubt loads more!) and he's probably the best manager of the modern era.
The key thing is to put things right when things don't work out. £4m for KPB, who has let's face it, since signing for us, looked like he had never even heard of football before, let alone played it!
It's the best deal all round. I wish him all the best, but we had to move on and so did he.
We could no doubt now do with signing a Palacios-type. Dunno if there's anyone out there who will sign for us who will have the same sort of impact as WP, but someone who can cover when he's unavailable, and maybe start on tough away days then we will have done superbly this summer.
The squad looks like it's set up to do well and should be able to cover all but the most calamitous of situations.
A few people have said it, but there's no one in the squad I'd like to see the back of. That's not always the case, is it? The entire squad is there on merit (with the exception of Bentley maybe) and without UEFA Cup distraction we ought to be in with a shout of a decent season.
Personally I'd like a good FA Cup run, that's always good to add excitement to a season. With a crack at top 6 to boot, I think that would be massive strides in the right direction.
