Not even close. Messi is the heartbeat and inspiration behind everything his successful teams have done with Ronaldo it's the opposite, the team is set up to benefit him. He's an incredible player and an outstanding athlete but if I'm waiting on a moment of inspiration and brilliance I'm looking at Messi.Leaving the Messi/Maradona comparisons to one side, does anyone else find it odd that Ronaldo even gets compared to Messi?
Ronaldo is an excellent player, but it's not even close imo.
He has the ability to win a game on his own, that match last night i don't think Barcelona played well in all honesty...but then Messi happened, he had a black eye, a smashed mouth, and he still did that in Ronaldos back garden. Not even close. I agree George Best is up there with the greats. Was two footed could take a tackle head create and score. The guy was a genius, such a shame he never played in a great team. I know Man Utd were good but they took so long in becoming a force again after he left.I'm a great fan of Pele but he did have great players around him at international level. Can't argue too much against Messi though but I also think George Best was as good as anyone I have ever seen and certainly the best I ever saw liveWhat Maradona did with an average Napoli team was pretty amazing, but it's hard to argue with Messi being the greatest.
I'm too young to have seen Pele, but my Dad is old enough to have seen them all and he says Messi is possibly the greatest he has seen. Although he also thinks George Best is up there as well.

He's Argentina's leading goal scorer.I'd probably take Ronaldo over Messi - he's been class in different teams and leagues, and can score with the head. Messi has only been successful in this Barcelona system, I wonder how well he would do out of it. Not sure about his Argentina record, haven't followed international football with great interest.
