They’ve had years of sharing the majority of the TV income with Real and to a lesser degree Atletico whilst the rest get scraps. Despite that they have racked up a Billion in debt - even with qualifying for the Champions league every year and winning it a few times.

I mean how fucking financially reckless do you actually have to be to find yourself in that situation.

Fuck em, they had their success built on debt, but now they have to pay the piper.
How does this make what Saudi, Qatar and Abu Dhabi are doing with their respective clubs any less wrong?

It doesn’t, I just find it laughable that it’s La liga that is complaining about it.

if it was Ajax or the eredivisie complaining it would carry a lot more weight with me.

It's definitely hypocritical but I hope they have some joy. Man City's commercial income is totally fabricated and they are hardly even hiding it.

I imagine PSG are similar too.

Don't get why people are complaining tbh. Yes it's a bit rich coming from Real especially, but anything that draws attention to what a disgrace what's happening with PSG, City and Newcastle is can only be a good thing surely?

The worst possible scenario is that everyone just ignores it. Sure, they aren't the only clubs/owners up to some shady shit, but they're by far the worst. Sort out the state-owned sportswashing clubs, then go after the slightly dubious tax evasion clubs if we have to. It's about priorities.

No, but they most certainly earned their success. It wasn’t purchased for them by some sportswashing sugar daddy dictator.
They have been a fabulous team but lets be honest their huge debt and their excessive wage bill had a large part to play in their success.

What makes it worse in my eyes is that virtually all of their top players were academy products - Messi, Puyol, Pique, Iniesta, Xavi, Busquets, their other top players were all acquired for fair sums - Ronaldinho, Alba, Alves, Villa.

Where they have gone wrong is by taking the Man United approach to transfers and shitting money up the wall - De Jong, Dembele, Coutinho, Griezmann

Has anyone heard what happened to the Leeds/Burnley complaint against Everton on FFP? I read that Everton even included an advance payment from naming rights of the new stadium which hasn’t even been built yet to increase their income and fiddle the figures.

Seems to have all gone quiet. I can’t imagine Burnley will give up on it quickly, so must be in the hands of the lawyers.

Lets be honest here this all boils down to the fact Madrid wanted MBappe and Halaand this Summer they both decided to not to go there. Like the spoilt bastards they are, they don't like it when they don't get their own way. I hate the oil money clubs but Madrid are no better really. Fuck em all that's what I say. The only reason La Liga have got involved is because it enforces Madrid's push for a ESL.

Did you see the Florian Perez statement about why Mbappe didn’t join Madrid? Hilarious. He said he was no longer the ‘real Mbappe’ and he wanted the old Kylian. Reminds me of the time I said I no longer wanted to date Scarlett Johanssen as she’d changed… ?

Real and Barca were the naturally dominant sides in spanish football. The reason they could spend so much was because they earned it, much like Man United did, or Bayern.

City, PSG, and soon Newcastle will (and have) skewed the competitiveness to such an extent that the French league is now a one club league, to a lesser extent so is the premier league. City have won 3 out of the last 4. These state funded clubs can just keep spending, even above what domestic dominance would allow. There’s no way anyone else will be able to compete and it’s just going to get worse.
Real were going bust and got bailed out through selling their training ground to the government at A vastly inflated price. Barcelona are bust and are still trying to buy the likes of Lewandowski. not exactly on the high ground

That doesn't make them wrong about City and PSG - who are a massive stain on the face of football. Vile clubs run by despicable people...

One of the chairman's other companies paid £30 million up front for 'exclusive' rights as first bidder on the unbuilt stadium.

I also believe the London stadium couldn't get a naming rights sponsor at £5 million a year at the time which should have demonstrated to the FA how unrealistic the Everton deal was yet they did nothing.

I suspect because, legally, they can't do anything about this kind of FFP fiddle.

Totally agree but the point I was responding to was that Real and Barca could spend that much ‘because they earned it’. They didn’t

Man City owners buying Palermo. It really shouldn't be allowed, this stockpiling of clubs

Palermo sold to Manchester City owners. Mirri sells 80% of the shares at 10 million plus 2 bonus. 20% of the shares are held (illiquidable) and remains President of the club

@AlfredoPedulla

@Glongari

It’s despicable. Was just listening to Simon Jordan talking about this La Liga complaint, and apparently, Tebas the president of la Liga is going after the PSG chairman personally and taking legal action in Switzerland against Uefa. This doesn’t sound like a petty complaint, he means business.

Maybe I should have just gone with a “Corruption in football” thread title?
