I looked through the last 15 pages of your posts and couldn't find 1 I would have neg repped.

Unless it was something in that Israel thread that was deleted after about 12 hours...?

Erm....there was an Israel thread?

I'm referring to neg reps.

Just leave it mate. No need to clog up up a decent thread.

But it's there Shea butter, it's there.

Just needs a decent manger.

Edit. And a million miles is a joke right?

Right?
As of now he's a very long way off Sterling's standard, I don't know if he's capable of even reaching that standard. I see his talent and physical ability but he's so far behind Sterling in terms of footballing intelligence its scary, so no a million miles is not a joke it's just an term I used to express my opinion that he's no where near Sterling's standard as things stand

If a good coach can teach him to develop the mental and instinctive side of the game to add to his physical attributes I suppose it's possible but I find it hard to envisage him ever being that type of player if I am honest - much as I would of course love him to

Anyone else ****ing off Andros will have to deal with me, right.

Slags.

Yet another player who loves the club who is NOWHERE NEAR as bad as people say. He's massively struggled with injuries, has some beastly natural attributes but yes, he has lots to work on. I could name about another 25 players in the squad I could say the same about.

I'm certainly not slagging him off - I like him a lot and I want him to be a huge success for the club

I'm simply saying that while he clearly has all the physical attributes in terms of his speed, strength and skill etc to be a star in our league - as things stand right now he's clearly a long way behind Sterling in the mental and instinctive side of the game (seeing things in advance, knowing which passes to make and when, knowing what movements to make and when etc)

I'm not trying to run him down - Sterling is a top class player and only looking like getting better, Townsend doesn't need to reach that level to be a success for our club just as Lamela doesn't need to be the next C.Ronaldo to be a success for us.

I'm just commenting the notion that was suggested that Townsend is close to the standard of Sterling and could easily be coached to that level because I think its rather blindly optimistic. Doesn't mean I am slagging him off or even being unsupportive of him (I haven't read anyone being negative about him in this thread just giving an assessment)

Don't worry, I'm not beating my chest. He ain't nowhere near Sterling at the moment but RS is looking like a worldy. As you say though:

Townsend doesn't need to reach that level to be a success for our club just as Lamela doesn't need to be the next C.Ronaldo to be a success for us.

Hello?

Lamela scored two good goals against the World Champions last night...... surely that is what should be discussed in here?

I noticed on the BBC it was all about Di Maria and his 3 assists and 1 goal - our lad deserves a little more support so rather than bashing andros lets talk lamela here

Fair enough - its says two on the BBC under the video and i watched it on a jumpy stream at work in miniture so couldn't see the face of the player scoring the header. Teach me for believing what i read on the BBC! Either way my point stands. But thanks.

...that goal last night was a sparkler - let's hope Lamela can do it in a Spurs' shirt...
...let's face it - he has a lot of work to do to get over the "Lame-ela" moniker from last year's flop - he is going to have to play D and prove he is strong enough on and off the ball to warrant a starting XI place as one of the 3 AM's, which admittedly isn't hard over Lennon, Paulinho, Kane, and Townsend (who seems to have regressed from last year)...

What we do need, and to be honest we need from every one of our 3, is them getting into the box more. Chadli obviously did it to great effect against QPR and should have got a goal against Liverpool - but we've not seen enough of Lamela getting into shooting positions yet.. or Eriksen for that matter. With his finishing technique, and a prior history of nabbing 15 league goals, we need to make sure Erik is getting the chance to fill his boots... hopefully that is going to come with more Poch time and the system

I can't disagree mate. But the game has moved on. Look at sterling. He is fucking awesome.

Sometimes you need to roam. If Townsend is told to check his natural/enforced shots on goal he could be as good.

I can see your point and I dont disagree. Eventually, once he has developed, he should be allowed to roam but that time has still to come.

If you look at the development of, say, a young Bale as an example, there were times where Bale, looked very much the archetypal winger, very mechanical technique and incapable of the quick technical feats that C.Ronaldo was capable of. That season we played Champions League, he shows a power and directness that I can only compare to Rugby wingers like Bryan Habana that no fullback could live with him. He got so good at getting to the line that even if it was predictable it was still effective.
Then the following season he started coming inside and defenders didnt know what to do, they were in two minds and found themselves helpless because they couldnt try and second guess him. What then followed is history - now you look at Bale and it appears he has so much time on the ball, partly due to his pace and partly due to defenders standing off.

With Townsend, he is good at getting to the line but he needs to master it like Bale did. Then when defenders are struggling to defend against him doing that will he buy himself time to come inside and pick his moments.

Back to Lamela: He is a different type of player. He's not a winger in the way Townsend it and I fully expect him to eventually develop into a Totti type Trequartista or No. 10.

that is an issue. But I reckon he was given that remit by his then current managers.

He has a good football brain. I just hope we get to see it used properly because he has the skills.

Come on Moutard, you can say a lot of things about the boy, mais pas cette.

Erik Lamela says he didn’t consider a summer move from Tottenham to Italy. “I never had any doubts about my future.”

The Argentine was paired with a few clubs given his struggles at Spurs following a €30m from Roma in August 2013.

“I read a lot of things in the newspapers and perhaps there were a few enquiries from clubs, but I had no direct contact or doubts about my future,” he told the Corriere dello Sport.

“Last season was complicated for me because of injury, but I feel good now. And I have to thank Tottenham for their help and patience – they have always shown faith in me.

“Now I am on the right path and I want to impose myself in the Premier League.

“A return to Italy one day? I’m still young and my career will be a long one. But, to be honest, all I’m thinking about right now is Tottenham.

“I want to give them my best. I owe them that.”
