Maybe it's the cup competition influence, but I don't think enough is being done on the training ground. Add that to the chop/changing lineups and you can almost understand why the players are not on the right wavelength.
I'd say that's definitely a relevant factor, pretty sure it is anyway.

Too many games, travel etc, not enough time on the training pitch.

The annoying thing is we've been talking about speeding up our play since Harry left and it's not happening. In fact, whenever we seem to try it, we suffer from hilariously poor mis-control. Our movement off the ball is so poor that simply moving the ball more quickly isn't enough.

You just have to look at the little diagonals that City and Arsenal make to see that we're some way off having that in our locker.

The funny thing is Mason is so adept at playing forwards and is showing everyone how its done yet he's only been in team for a few games. I think our main problem is a massive lack of confidence and some of the wrong players. Players are scared to play quick one touch passes and don't want to make mistakes or give the ball away. If we can correct this we might have a chance.

We should progress in the Europa and we should, notwithstanding last weekends debacle, be in the semi's of the League Cup. We are clocking up the games already. Hard for Poch to get the balance right. In previous years we have burnt out towards the business end of the season. I think Poch has this in mind with his rotation. It's probably not helping in the short term though.

Last week Le Tissier said you need to build a side around players like Lamela. I agree with him, although Eriksen has probably performed the better of the two so far in their Spurs careers, to me Lamela has a higher ceiling when it comes to potential, he shows more willing and commitment even when things aren't going his way. Eriksen can seem a little aloof at times and i always have that post match interview he did towards the end of last last season in the back of my mind when he said he "had a plan in his head" regarding his future.

Im not sure both can play and perform to their absolute best. As our team moves forward under Pochettino and assuming we bring in Jay Rodriguez at LF, i would like to see Lamela at No.10 behind Kane and preferably a wide man on the right.

you have to say on performances to date Lamela, Kane, Chadli and Mason are looking more like the future of Spurs then Eriksen

Why can't they all be part of a collective future? For a site that bemoans a lack of passion and quality in our team, I see an abundance of it in those 5 players.

This may have been picked up elsewhere but at two key points in the match Lamela and Kane were on less than friendly terms. Kane pushed Lamela away when he was waving his imaginary red. Prior to the winner Lamela was tustling to get the ball to take the freekick that Kane ultimately scored. Hope we don't have cliques in the dressing room. Probably looking into it too much but worth a mention.

Check 51secs on as they start to disperse.

Also, this is a quality video.

I agree Eriksen's form has been questionable, but Lamela offered nothing yesterday when he came on.

Dress it up as much as you like, he did nothing.

I am not giving him credit for taking a corner. Although, with our team and their inability to beat the first man on any set piece, maybe I should.

However, he did show a bit of fight and determination which ultimately saw Benteke sent off so I will give him credit for that. Last season he would have just had a paddy and thrown his arms in the air.

A bit hard when you're asked to play somewhere you've never played before. He wasn't amazing but saying he "offered nothing" is silly. He got an assist. Without that goal, we would have lost.

So he's gone from offering nothing to getting an assist and showing some fight?

How was he out of position? I read this earlier, somebody saying he played central midfield or some nonsense? He was on the left of midfield.

If that wasn't what was intended then surely Dembele would have been the better option?

Other than take a corner and his handbags with Benteke, what else did he do in 45 minutes?

If you want to find comfort in the fact that he got an assist from a corner then that is your prerogative.

If you are using that to cloud over another ineffectual Premier League performance that is up to you.

But it certainly isn't changing what I see as blatantly obvious. He is simply not cutting it in the League.

When are we actually going to play Eriksen in his position (as in the position in which he played at Ajax and does now for Norway)?

Norway?

Denmark.

Oh, and he is more or less playing in the same forward positions when he plays for the Danish National team.

And if you want to ignore the fact that he had a direct influence in our first goal then that's up to you? What will you say when he scores?

Fucking hell, mate. You admit we're shite at corners and nothing ever comes from them but when one of our players comes off the bench, takes a great corner which leads to us equalising you come on here and say how ineffective he was.

Give it a rest, will ya

He plays centrally for Norway, I mean Denmark.
They have actually used him quite a bit from the left in the past couple of games. Furthermore I wouldn't look to much at his appearances for the national team. He has recently gotten some stick for his appearances because both journalists AND the national team coach (Morten Olsen) believes he has performed on too-low of a level.

Anybody help me out here, I'm not being a complete dunce am I?

Lamela did play the end of the match at Central Midfield?

Such as when he tracked and tried to throw himself in front of Aly Cissokhos shot?

Mate, I just replied to one of his inane posts and realised it was a total waste of 30 seconds.

I honestly wouldn't bother

Main Man did say he worked for a football team, but he could just be cleaning the bogs or disinfecting the exercise bikes for a living...
