I imagine this will come down to how much trouble Inter are actually in. I wouldn't pay too much attention to what his agent says, if Inter really are fucked then he'll be sold and the agent is merely protecting the interests of the player by stating he is not looking to move. He has more leverage over both Inter and his next club in terms of wages if this is the position. I think this one could be an interesting watch. FWIW while I am a big Vlahovic fan, Lautaro is the far more proven option if the prices are similar, albeit a different sort of forward.

I genuinely dont know why the press have went with this even though its a no go, obviously its for clicks for their websites but if this was the jist of it we agreed a fee chelsea got lukaku so we dont get martinez it would be strange for the club to leak the info if it looks highly unlikely weird day
That journalist just lost all credibility for a few clicks.

Can’t work this one out. Think it’ll be a few days before we really know whether it’s off or on

If this is true then it has to mean that Kane is going and we are just spending the money in advance, I don't care what Gold is saying about wanting to play him with Kane.

The player has to want to come to us too, which could be the sticking point. Such a shame this fire sale didn't happen when we were a more attractive team to sign for.

I'm her
He's a 1 in 3 striker for Inter which isn't bad but not spectacular either.
What sort of player is he?
@Romario Romario where are tho Romario
I'm here and watching the Arsenal match. In a nutshell Martinez will never be a replacement for Harry Kane but would have made a good striking partner. Two things however are stopping that happening. I believe Harry will be leaving us and the guy doesn't want to leave Inter. His agent Alejandro Camano said recently "“He’s never gonna have a fight with Inter to leave the club. Never. Lautaro’s an Inter player and he’s happy in Italy” which was confirmed by Romano. He averaged a goal every two games last season (19 out of 38) and 49 in 132 total whilst being at Inter. I just cannot see this happening myself
Critics say he has a habit of under hitting his strikes and goes for clever placement as opposed to power which strangely enough in some situations is not the best option. He will however nearly always hit the target and many of his goals have come from awkward angles. His overall awareness is top drawer and he's always willing to drop deep if required. His final ball though can also be suspect and to the detriment of a goal scoring opportunity for a colleague.

I would be most surprised if this deal came off but would obviously give him every chance to prove me wrong. He's rated at €60m which I find somewhat over priced. Hope that helps (y) I have a feeling it could be yet another of Fabio's smokescreens.

Is that the sticking point here? We wouldn’t have bid without doing our due dilligence

This is probably the biggest summer for prem teams to take advantage of clubs all over europe financially struggling so much this opportunity might never come round again but we should be taking advantage of this situation this summer

We are, take a look at the deals negotiated so far and the immediate expenditure imposed on the club. All of them have given Tottenham time to recover from the financially ravaging effects of covid's empty terraces and drastically reduced revenue.
There's more loan / buy deals to come too I reckon before this window is closed.

Maybe the interest was real, maybe it is/was close, but surely it can only happen so many times that the same club agrees a deal with a big name player before (always through no fault of their own) it falls apart.

I'd love to be proven wrong, but this feels like a PR exercise. Maybe it was to force another club to engage in talks for a different target, maybe it was to distract from all the Kane talk, maybe it was none of these things.

It'd be nice for one of these signings to actually transpire and work out for once though.
Maybe it just gives Inter an opportunity to deny they're having a fire sale and take the heat off them selling Lukaku for a bit

Yes romario think this is our biggest chance to improve the squad with some real quality players are decent prices, the only thing is the struggle to shift some of the deadwood we may have to drop our prices to get those players out the door with clubs in europe being skint.

Thanks for that mate much appreciated. Sounds like Paratici has his work cut out with this one let's see. Don't know enough about him to get excited so will see how it pans out.

I have a feeling Paratici is not quite as interested in this one as the media is making out (or being led to believe)

That may well be the case but do not assume we always feed them details of our true intentions ;)
