Not really that bothered anymore. And seriously, there is no guarantee he'll do better than Defoe and Ade anyway. Like most Brazilian flair players I think he needs to 1-2 seasons in a lesser league to ease into life in Europe.

I would be amazed if he did better than both Defoe and Adebayor to be honest. All it takes is a quick glance at his record to see he has become wildly over rated by some. He no way justifies a supposed £20m+ price tag.

He is also pretty far from being a flair Brazilian player.

Not sure be can be labeled as wildly over rated, he is a very good player with an excellent record (if you're wondering why his goal return in Serie A this season was low it's because he was injured for half the season).

A very good player in Brazil, with the potential to be a good player outside of Brazil. But £20m+ is too high an asking amount and we're not in desperate need of him now.

Yes we are. We have 4 goal keepers and two strikers. If one striker gets injured, we don't exactly have many options, not to mention that Defoe is 30 now.

I'd rather we go all out for Moutinho or get on someone like Ganso, we desperately miss VDV.

How many goalkeepers we have is irrelevant.

We have two main strikers, for one role, keeping them both happy will be hard. Whilst Defoe is getting on a bit, he is also banging in goals at a rate which we've never before seen from him. Ade proved how valuable he was to us last season and has shown the same again so far this season in his limited appearances for us.

We also have Dempsey, who can kind of play that role if required.

Whilst we do need another striker, with Ade now not off to play for Togo in Jan we're not in desperate need of one IMO.

I remember 4 months ago every one here was praising this lad and his skills, fans were furious when his price went up after the Olympic games and we did not sign him as it was expected.
Now 4 months later you write him off ? far from being a Brazilian flair ? what have exactly happened since August that you have all changed your minds ? Defoe started to score ?o_O

Three things if I had to guess:

  1. He hasn't signed for us or anyone despite five consecutive windows of our rumored interest
  2. No other club signed him despite his Olympics and recent national/club displays (prior to his injury)
  3. Defoe is banging in goals for fun
I think he'd be a great signing but agree Spurs may need to focus funds for a special playmaker

I never rated him that highly before though. I wrote him off to a degree long before the Olympic Games based on what I had seen.
He is far from a Brazilian flair player is what I said. The reason why people think he could be suited o the English game is his style, direct, quite physical etc. He is certainly not in the Kaka, Ronaldinho or Robinho category who are flair players.

He isn't a bad player by any means just not worth £20m and I don't think he is good enough for us and where we want to go.

Not sure those three players are very similar in style really, but i see your point, and whilst he isn't a big flair player, he has a lot of skill to his game.

But you are right, he isn't worth £20m, perhaps he was in the summer to us as we were desperate for a striker of his type, but we signed Ade and Defoe is currently banging them in, so he isn't a priority right now, which is annoying to an extent as i'm certain he will move club this window and no doubt it will be for less than £20m.

As far as I know he plays in a different roll on the field. he is a striker and the names you have mentioned play behind the striker or as attacking midfield/wing position, any way except for Robinho they do have more flair then him and brasil_spur have said we were desperate in the summer.
