There is one massive positive to come out of this sorry affair. It was the headline on bbc.co.uk yesterday:

"Spurs' King Arrested For Assault"

The resulting image of some Norwegian kid kicking the crap out of his primary school friends for not rating Tawe Taiwo almost makes up for losing a hero.

All you whiter than white gentlefolk - he's a drunk! he's a disgrace! he's a terrible role model! he's a thug!

Just like the seven dwarves, none of you are f*cking snow white - the point here is that, whatever happened, the only reason we know about it is because the gutter-dwelling scum who pass themselves off as the pap are following people like this around day in, day out, they sacrifice any life of their own to stalk club doorways looking for any slight minor infraction to the moral code, which they will defend with valiant honour!! The fact that they wipe their arse with it to get there goes over a lot of heads, granted, but if it had been you or me there who had a few drinks and for whatever reason got into a shoving match, you think would've got in the headlines? Not a chance.

This kind of shit happens every single day. Every night after these overpriced meat markets close, there is a legion of slavering cyclops' outside with their big black eyeball trained right on that door waiting to destroy the career of any celeb who happens to look slightly bosseyed.

You see this lot pissing and whining, then in the next breath are trying to jam their camera up some girls gusset.

They are scum, they encourage worst case scenarios and whatever happened outside that club, so many of you jumping up to knock down a man who's dedicated his life to professional football at the Lane but, "lordy bless this chile, make him neeever be tempted by the demon drink again! amen!" TWICE he's been caught on the sauce and i think he deserves a little more of your confidence and understanding until someone can show me the absolute facts of what went on.

Until then, our boy Ledders had a few drinks, someone got shirty with him (possibly because he was drunk, possibly because he's a Spurs player and the doorman a Woolwich womble, who knows) and some shoving went on. No stabbing, no mum-raping, no child molesting.

Get a fucking grip, people.

It doesn't matter whether the paparazzi are twats (they are) or whether the doorman is looking for a payday. Ledley's behaviour was inexcusable.

You cannot control the press and you cannot control other people, but you can control your own behaviour, and Ledley lost control, big time. The paps are evil, but no-one forced him to go out drinking, no-one forced him to get abusive and no-one forced him into a fight. If you're a top premiership footballer, you know that the press are going to hound you and you know that there are hundreds of parasites (be it WAGS or this bouncer) who can make a mint out of your bad behaviour. That means you have to be extra careful.

I'm not saying that Ledley deserves all the shit that is coming his way, because the press will blow everything out of proportion - but there's very little point in blaming anyone except him. It's not some global conspiracy to discredit Spurs - it's just Ledley, out on the lash when he should be tucked up in bed, drinking horlicks and behaving like a professional.

I am not a Redknapp fan I admit but I like to think that I would be fair in my observations.

Redknapp wasted no time in bringing back the ketchup bottle and abandoning the diet regime when he arrived. I wasn't a fan of Ramos but getting our players to look after themselves like athletes and not like sunday league pub players was something I agreed with.

I don't think you are fair in your observations at all.

Harry Redknapp is very aware of being strict with players on the consumption of alcohol. So much so, that when he was at West Ham, he banned alcohol being served in the players lounge bar on match days, to stop players drinking before and after the game. A rule, West Ham still have in place today.
I have also heard, he has done this at Tottenham aswell.

What bit of it?

You cannot control the press and you cannot control other people, but you can control your own behaviour, and Ledley lost control, big time.

Well, not really "big time" was it? As i said, no-one died, no child molesting, no flying teeth. All we got to go on is the shakey footage, the context into which we're told it fits and no indication as to anything that had gone on before that clip.

The paps are evil, but no-one forced him to go out drinking, no-one forced him to get abusive and no-one forced him into a fight.

Never been in a position where someone does force you into a "fight" then? That was a shoving match, they happen all the time - i am a pacifist but i've had to put my arms up to stop some drunk wanker who just decided he wanted to fight me - no provocation other than something like i have long hair. Not once either, I've found myself saying, "Just go home and sober up, you're making a cock of yourself" before having some lump dragged off of me. I don't fight - i'll defend myself, but not fight.

If you're a top premiership footballer, you know that the press are going to hound you and you know that there are hundreds of parasites (be it WAGS or this bouncer) who can make a mint out of your bad behaviour. That means you have to be extra careful.

And he has been - he's been caught a wee bit drunk TWICE in his entire career! Give the guy a break! He's not Jehova.

I'm not blaming everyone except him - i don't know what happened, what was said and by who so, until i do, i'm choosing to side with the idea that it was someone with a mouth faster than their brain and the only reason the camera turns on Ledley is because the other guy is a regular joe-nobody, so who cares what he did - it's all about the famous guy.

I won't blindly defend someone, i'll not blindly pre-judge though either.

I see the race card is being played now, that should add a couple of zeros onto any compensation payed out.

Well, no... no one died. But it's a bit like saying "That Ian Huntley's an alright fella, it's not as if he gassed millions of jews."

Never been in a position where someone does force you into a "fight" then?

At least one Sunday morning a month. But I've not thrown a punch playing Sunday football in my life.

And he has been - he's been caught a wee bit drunk TWICE in his entire career! Give the guy a break! He's not Jehova.

Twice? You keep saying this... but it's more than twice. He's been in the London rags at least twice this season... And I can remember the CC cup final fall-out too. So it's not twice, is it?

 Bang on... Shame others won't be so kind. Arrested and charged doesn't mean guilty.

This saturday I hope we have a full chorus of 'We got Ledley at the back' for 90 minutes. I know I'll be belowing out, and looking a tit in the process because I'm West Upper where nobody sings

Rocksuperstar, I take your points, but my feeling is that footballers like Ledley should be professional enough to not put themselves in situations where any of this is likely to happen.

Of course none of us are perfect. Of course all of us have at times gotten pissed and behaved like dicks. But to my knowledge, none of us are captaining Tottenham.

I'm not saying that Ledley is a disgrace, or that he should be sacked or anything, I'm just saying that from everything I've seen, he has no-one to blame but himself, and that he (and every other professional footballer) has to wise up and realise that the world has changed in the following ways:

a) Footballers are supposed to be athletes so boozing is discouraged

b) Footballers are now superstars who are a massive target for the paparazzi

c) There is a compensation culture whereby people will go out of their way to get involved in a scrap with a celebrity/footballer

d) Everyone has a camera on their phone, so if you do misbehave in public, it's going to get taped.

All of that adds up to a fairly strong argument for Ledley staying in on a Saturday night.

Someone on here mentioned that the bouncer said he did not know who Ledley was. Well this picture shows a different side for me as he has a L.F.C tattoo which as far as I know is Liverpool Football Club. So he must have known who ledley was, or I'm I completely wrong about the tattoo

He was indeed a Scouser. Part of the problem was Ledley King called Steven Gerrard fat. Seriously. :|

That, in fact, was given the same coverage in one report as the fact he called (assuming the reports are true) the doorman a 'P**i B*****d' (their asterisks, not mine).
