Actually I dont get/ have never got, if you are; men who kick ball (to quote Phil Cornwall), why cant you train to use the other one too?

I couldn't shoot or even pass well with my left until I injured my right and had to use my left constantly for footie for a few months. I had definitely improved.

haha all you lennon doubters can eat humble pie tonight..

we still have reason to doubt.

Dont be so blunt. Yes he made a great assist for pav's goal, but what about all the times before that when he lost the ball from a seemingly dangerous position with about 3 or 4 blue shirts waiting for his delivery in the box only to get dissapointed and caught out of position as a result?

Their are two sides to every argument.

ANOTHER ASSIST FOR LENNON

is that 3 in his last 3 games?

Good on him i say. he's stepped up when facing stiff competition for his place in the team. he deserves some plaudits and to play!

Lennon on the left, its an interesting one.

He seems much more adept at cutting back and then curling a quality ball in than he is getting to the byline on the right and delivering a ball.

I think Lennon on the left, with Bale behind him offering the overlap, could be an interesting combination. Then Bentley can play on the right, with Hutton when fit offering the overlap. That would look pretty impressive, and would be a good way to go in a 4-5-1

More interestingly still, that was, unless I was seeing things, another left-footed cross.

You were seeing things.

Krafty, I agree with Lennon on the left wing with Bale offering an overlap behind him. I've said that could be good for a while. If not, with Giovani on the left wing, allowing Giovani to play more as a second striker when Bale attacks.

Lennon is an important player for us. Although he seemed to just run around in circles for most of last night he always looked dangerous and was unfortunate to go off imo.

I assume it was to rest him for the weekend rather than for playing badly, I hope so anyway as he has been probably our best player so far this year, if the management can't see that then I would be worried.

Very different players. Bentley is the better passer/crosser no doubt. Lennon needs to have a good look at his game ......John Chidowsie never went much further either.
Bentley has the better touch and I feel he can even move inside and become a playmaker for us. He is one of many Spurs players performing below par. His delivery has been poor but the again we have hardly had 'targets' demanding the ball inside.....Bent, once he is stopped from running is pretty clueless at receiving the ball. Playing one up front (Bent) doesn't really work unless the player can receive the ball, hold it up and cause problems through 'presence' around the area.

Can anyone even begin to understand why Bentley yet again got the nod to start today over Lennon?

In my opinion, Lennon has been our best player so far this season. Bentley has been our worst, or at least joint worst with Dawson.

Surely today was the final straw... Bentley was woeful yet again today, and within seconds of Lennon replacing him, Lennon threatened and should have won a penalty. Lennon actually did more in half a minute than Bentley did in an hour.

Lennon must start against Portsmouth, and Bentley must be dropped.

Woodgate for me, he was a rock last night..!!

When Lennon's on the left, he'll whip in a high cross with his right. When Lennon's on the right, he'll whip in a high cross with his left.

This rule doesn't apply for low crosses.

would play db on the right, lennon left.tell bentley to get the crosses in,as we know on form hes as good as any one in the prem.lennons not the best crosser so just tell him to run at people and draw them out to the left hand side...

Bentley is a poor man's David Beckham. No ability to take on and beat his man , just a good delivery of crosses and free kicks. Eek However the reason that he is only a poor man's Beckham is that those skills seem also to desert him when things are not going well.

One thing that does occur to me is that , like Beckham , it may be worth playing him in a playmaking role. Let him play there and at the same time push Modric right forward in a 4-5-1.

Gomes

Gunter- Woodgate- Corluka- Bale

King

Lennon- Bentley :duh:( or Hudd ) - Jenas

Modric

any one of our strikers

And , yes, King as our holding midfielder as I believe he is the only player in our club that can do that job effectively ( as he has shown for England in the past )
Cant let this one go. Much as Bentley is off form and deserves to be dropped, he will come good for us. He does not deserve that kind of glib cliché. Beckham had a lot more to his game than the lazy media stereotype of crossing, corners and free kicks and I have not seen anything like the work rate from Bentley

King would be great again at DM, but it would be great to see him playing regularly anywhere in Lily-white shirt.

yep well done to Aaron last night - JR (and many on here) called it right to start him and he delivered

it seemed him and JJ linked up well on a number of occasions including crucially for the goal

if he keeps that level of performance he will start a lot of games

I'll still back Bentley to come good too, but great let's have a nice problem if they can both hit form -

to me JJ AL DZ and O'Hara should all start Sunday - fitness etc permitting,

Bale looks like he might need a rest -
