Wonder where the rumour originated from?
Bild it seems. I reckon they've definitely sounded him out probably expecting Conte to walk soon or at least have a spat with the board. It really doesn't take much for Abramovich to get fed up with a manager and want 'the next best thing'.

The Italian, 48, has also ostracised last season’s top scorer, Diego Costa, which according to the German daily has not gone down well with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia.

Granovskaia played a vital role in securing the deal to sign the Spain striker in 2014, prising the striker from Atletico Madrid; she is said to be furious that Conte decided to do without the striker when no replacement had been lined up.

In the last week, I read that Conte's treatment of Costa had gone down like a lead balloon in the dressing room.

Yesterday I read a piece in The Mirror which said that Marina Granovskaia-Chelsea director, trusted Abramovich advisor, (and woman, no less)-plans to run the club on a more sustainable basis.

Anyway, the piece was about Chelsea's alleged interest in Jamie Vardy, and said that his age and wages sat nicely with Granovskaia's plans to be more prudent with the spondulics. "She feels there is better value in signing either younger players or older players rather than paying top dollar for stars in their prime."

Craig Bellamy said something pretty interesting on The Debate. He thinks Conte wearing a tracksuit for their opening game suggested that he was trying to make a point about how he is being treated, suggesting that he is simply just a coach as the decisions about players are out of his control.

If we pip them to Llorente and Barkley it could have huge ramifications for them.

Well it's happened.

I reckon Barkley rejected the move to Chelsea because he knows Poch wants him.

Reckon Andre Gomes deal fell through and we contacted Barkley to change his mind.

No point buying him now anyway as he's injured, he'll be a lot cheaper and fit in January.

I don't concur with the Chelsea PR exercise peddled in the media that they had a bad window. Morata will be better than costa because he wants to be there and bakayoko will be an upgrade over the season on matic. Rudiger is better suited to the league now than terry plus they have christiensen now as a first teamed. They really haven't done badly at all

Loving the way they were snubbed by Barkley, Llorente and Oxlade-Chamberlain. Oxlade-Chamberlain also took a 60k per week pay cut to go to Liverpool (he was that desperate to get out of Arsenal and not end up as another Chelsea toy) and I have to respect that.

How have Chelsea spent £182m this transfer window? I know it's only about £72m net, but they don't look any better than last year to me.

Shouldn't it be concering for Chelsea, that Llorente decided not to join them? After all, he knows Conte from Juventus, so if they get along, you would expect this connection to swing the transfer in their favor.

Seeing Oxlade-Chamberlain, Llorente and Barkley reject a move to them, tells me that something must be going on behind the scenes at Chelsea. I am sure the players from different teams communicate with each other. Maybe the whle Costa saga has more serious repercussions thatn generally assumed. If Conte can freeze out Costa, than no player can be 100% assured of their role. Makes it understandable, that some players do not want to join such an environment.

He didn't take a pay cut, he just accepted a lower wage at Liverpool than what Chelsea were prepared to offer him. Liverpool are still paying him nearly double what he was on at Arsenal.

Chelsea couldn't agree a deal with Swansea which is strange. Valenciayid did suggest they still owe us so maybe made our negotiations easier. I'm not sure it was a case of him picking us over them. It was just nice to see us to clinch a signing from under their noses. I reckon Chelsea thought they would have a clear run for him yesterday. Add to that their failure to get Aurier and you have to hand it to Levy.

Spend 200m and it's still a 'frustrating window' for them. Mental.

I heard he turned down 180k at Arsenal and accepted 120k at Liverpool.
