This is an amazing pool team, which i again don’t doubt, but the self entitlement that they supposedly deserved to win the quadruple as they only lost 4 out of 63 matches all seasons is stupid. In 9 of their biggest matches they played this season, they won none of them over 90minutes, so i don’t get where this self proclaimed ‘mentality monsters’ tag comes from? Because they come back against crap teams like watford and norwich?

They didn’t beat any of the top 4 teams all season. 6 games no win in the league. They had the Worst record against each other out of all of the top 4. For a team that should have won the league… they spent less time on top of the table than bloody spurs and man utd lol!

In three cup finals they scored a grand total of ZERO goals. With probably the best strike force in europe and won two cups on the lottery of a shootout. When you consider they only had one league game i think in which they didn’t score, on the biggest stage in the finals they didn’t step up.

Their route to the champions league final consisted of playing bang average teams like villareal and benfica in the quarters and semi final. Even the first knockout stage they got beat by inter milan at home. Compare that to real madrid who knocked out chelsea, psg and city,

Mentality monsters my butt.

Seems like there was a lot of misinformation spread last night about the trouble outside. Sky showing video and images now that really don’t show the french police in a good light. Tear gassing children etc.

What a shambles.
From following on Twitter and the various clips being shared (the beauty of people filming everything) it looks like:
  • trouble started with ticket less fans storming the gates two hours before kick off (tweets from well before the big trouble started)
  • Police closed streets off to restrict the flow and funnel fans into special areas
  • Legit fans with tickets now stuck behind those forcing their way in and unable to get through
  • Heavy handed police indiscriminately tear gassing fans (never calms things down)

Honestly I think this is the least “great” Liverpool season we will see in at least 3 years. This isn’t recently bias because I’ve thought about it for some time now.

All team cycle comes to an end, theirs has ended now. Van Dijk is still world class but he’s starting to get some injuries and hasn’t been as good as before. Matip 1 year older. Their midfield is dead. Thiago their best midfielder 1 year older + injury prone. Keita injury prone & inconsistent. Henderson not good enough for this level. Milner old. Fabinho has declined. Ox, does he even exist? They got young players like Curtis Jones & Harvey Elliott but they’re not ready to take the next step yet

In attack they will lose Mane. Salah has been dogshit for 6 months now and may even leave. Diaz end product is a question mark. Jota not good enough to be a starter. Firminho becoming finished, Origi leaving, Minamino barely plays. They signed Fabio Carvalho, smart signing but one for the future
This Liverpool squad won’t compete for the big trophies next season, I can almost guarantee it. Their owners won’t spend the big money they need to rebuild the team, while we under World Class Conte will spend over 200M
Man City is the only team that scares me in the Premier League, the rest won’t be a competition for us
While I would like them to fall away, I can’t agree with any of the above. VVD has years ahead of him, and Salah is still a terrific player despite his form dipping after Xmas (which is easy to explain - AFCON disappointment and fatigue). Klopp is still one of the best coaches in world football and, while us and Madrid did a good job of frustrating Liverpool and posing a threat on the counter, City are the only team this season who I’ve seen just look better than Liverpool.

Liverpool will be a contender again next season. If they’re not then City will run away with the title, even if we add another 10-12 points to our league performance.

Yeah I’ve seen the videos in twitter, they showed some on sky too but it didn’t look like Liverpool fans trying to jump the fences. Looked like young French lads to me.

This time round they haven't got a Coutinho to sell to fund it

They’re obviously gonna be a good team next season but as I said they won’t compete for the big trophies. Their defence is still fine I agree with you, disagree with Jota being good enough to be a starter, even Liverpool fans has said that

Also their owners has shown they won’t spent big money, that’s why Liverpool fans are frustrated

They won't spend massively, FSG are like Enic really and don't have a coutinho to sell. It will be so interesting to see what happens with their forward line. But what this does show is it is imperitive we nail down our front three for the next few years - Son and Kulu are fine, Kane needs to be tied down to a contract.

I despise Liverpool, think that is now well known haha but whilst what you say is totally true, I just dont think it is fair but its hard to argue your points. I do think teams have found them out - Liverpool cross a lot but no one to head the ball in so you just let them have the ball out wide etc.

I do think they have reached the end of this cycle. To be honest if we come out of Contes reign with Liverpools successes I would be absolutely ecstatic - a PL, CL, FA Cup, Carabao Cup. But theyre not one of the best there has been. Owen still sayign theyre the best team yesterday is the exact delusion taht is unbearable and why theyre just a hated team.

It does seem like the big teams have worked out how to play against them now. If some of the smaller sides can start taking points of them as well Klopp might have to make an official complaint.

Was likely a mix of locals, Liverpool and Madrid fans.

it’s quite common on these games for fans to storm the gates (remember Frankfurt fans doing it before EL final)

My Scouse wife just heard the news about the final and the chaos. Luckily I managed to keep it quiet and she wasn’t aware it was yesterday. Today she asked what happened and I said Depends which version you chose to believe. Then I chanced my arm and said “I’m not pointing the finger but you have to question Why is always the Liverpool fans. “ and incredibly she accepted that. Wow.

Uefa and the French blaming “fake tickets“ now. Andy Robertson was just on, who obviously got legit tickets through the club, but his friends weren’t allowed in because the police said they were fake.

You wonder how it happens in this day and age.

ah the media white washing already in full swing I see. Answer me this then, how come Madrid fans didn’t face the same problems?

SSN giving it the full whitewash. Two clips of police running? I am sure that people were sold blag tickets, and I feel sorry for them. I am sure there were checks at the gates and long queues. But there is plenty of clips of people climbing over fences, jumping turnstiles, running and dodging security people and legging it up into the stadium (none being shown on tv) The stairwells in the Liverpool end were full, we could all see it. Stop the whitewash, stop pretending nothing happened. Yes, the French police got heavy, yes, the queues were a mess. But lets not ignore it, they have a complete bonkers element side of their fan base. I feel sorry for their real fans for they are the ones who suffer. Don't whitewash it, say it as it is, the idiots who follow them and cause the trouble need sorting out or it will happen again and again. I have red mates who won't go these type of games as they know what will happen. The media covering up will just encourage the idiot element to keep doing as they do. We have our own idiots, so do other clubs. But the scale of it is nothing like what clings to their club. It happens againa nd again and again. Every time it is whitewashed.

What benefit is it to sky sports to whitewash it. Not to mention Marty’s colleague from Norway?

to protect their darling Liverpool. So far I’ve seen French youths, Madrid fans and the French police being blamed yet none of them point to the countless videos out in the public domain showing the animals storming gates, bragging that they blagged their way in using fake tickets and just being general arseholes. If that’s not white washing then what is?

as for someone’s point above about someone making a fortune off these fake tickets, that’s probably miles from the truth. These idiots would have spent the last week printing their own fake tickets or packing Hi Vis vests to pretend to be security guards etc. all the while knowing that their actions would have consequences on real genuine fans with tickets. Offended by everything, ashamed of nothing.

I think it’s more likely you’re letting your own prejudice get in the way of objective reasoning.

Sky would have no reason not to report on Liverpool fans causing trouble. They were more than happy to make a huge deal about the trouble at the euro final last summer by England fans. And numerous other incidents like this.
