Speaking with my employment lawyer hat on, it's clearly a sackable offence (it's gross misconduct). Having said that, he may well not even be employed by Sky, it may be a contractor/PSC arrangement.
I wouldn't have a problem if he was fired, just don't think he should be.

Well how about being spat at or being in the middle in a multi car pile up? Carragher was a dick, the driver of the other car was far worse imo. As someone else said, plenty of idiots drive and use their phone whilst driving . It's another level of moronic to start filming someone through the passenger window though, and stupider still to then send the footage off to the Mirror.

I think we're all agreed that both were idiots.

Spitting is disgusting and there is just no excuse for it.

Especially if it was at a 14 year old girl, no matter what the verbal provocation.

He should be fired.

If he’d have just mouthed obscenities back a suspension / final warning would have been enough but spitting is a big no no.

Too easy in this country otherwise to do something really stupid then remorsefully apologise afterwards.
Spitting isn't disgusting, people do it all the time as it's a natural reaction to a build-up of fluid in the mouth. Spitting at people is disgusting. However, Carragher was spitting at a car. It was an emotional response, on the back of bitter disappointment, to being trolled whilst driving. I severely doubt he'd have reacted the same to someone in the street calling out: "Hey, Jamie...unlucky lad, 2-1."

A father endangering his 14 year old daughter by using a mobile whilst driving, to taunt a sports analyst? No forgiveness for that, as many deaths have been caused by same. Lock him up.

What do you think is more common: a person using there phone whilst driving or a sky sports pundit spitting in a girls face?

It isn't a case of whataboutisms, as they are both wrong. The driver should get 6 points and a fine, Carragher should get sacked.
Wind yer neck in. He didn't spit in a girl's face. He spat at a car. Using a mobile whilst driving is also an actual offence that has caused deaths. No one ever died from being spat at. No cars ever dissolved or suffered serious harm from saliva.

Spitting at someone is an actual offence. It's an assault. You are arguing a hypothetical. The car didn't crash. Yes he was reckless filming it but nothing happened.

Spitting carries diseases hepatitis etc (not suggesting carragher has any diseases). The spit hit a person...a 14 year old girl. It's an assault.

He could have easily looked over wound his window up, cranked the music and revelled in the fact he's a millionaire with a million pound a year job and banging a fit mrs. Instead he chose to assault a 14 year old girl.

I'm not excusing the dad who was also a bellend

It really isn't. You're telling me you've never spat out saliva, because that sounds like serious BS.

Also, don't pick out a few words but show the whole sentence as you're attacking a straw man.

I have a shit most days. Doesn't mean they aren't disgusting or i should do it on a car.

I'll laugh if the bloke taking the video gets his collar felt for driving without due care.

Why is more not being made of the fact that the driver is driving down a duel carriage way whilst shouting out of his passenger side window at another motorist, and filming it all on his mobile phone?
What makes it worse was his daughter in the passenger seat too. Arguably as shameful from him if you ask me.

I know. I've read a lot of them on here.

You've just typed one of the most idiotic statements it's possible to read. You think the natural process of excreting waste products is disgusting(something that if you didn't do would result in death), therefore you must regard all life forms as disgusting for living.

You are tool of the century, above Shadydan, so a real achievement.

Unless I'm missing something won't this guy get done for dangerous driving? Surely filming a conversation on a phone whilst driving is an offence?

No, Without due care and attention and/ or driving whilst using a mobile device.

Same could be said for due care with regards to carragher

From what I take from the clip of the incident, it appears that Carragher was having the piss taken out of him because Liverpool lost. Well hello! Every time Spurs lose I have had to put up with similar. To be fair, I've dished it out to people I mix with who support other teams. Isn't this part and parcel of football? Overreacting in such a way is pathetic.

I am sure that professional footballers have had far worse chanted at them from the terraces. I find it strange that a situation as it appears on this clip angered Carragher to the extent he reacted as he did. It begs the question was there something said prior to filming on the mobile started recording the incident.

Regardless of what provoked him, I cannot think of any reason that excuses spitting in someone's face. I would rather be punched in the face than spat on. Just my opinion,of course, but I will have no sympathy for him if he loses his job. He has been a role model for Liverpool fans and, for me, someone in the public eye who spits in someone's face has committed an action that is indefensible.
