The backlash is already starting in some parts of the media. They love to tear someone down anyway, but when that person is someone they hyped up to sickening levels, including a bloody Channel 4 documentary, it makes them seem rather silly and they don't much enjoy that.

After starting the season on fire I thought I'd try the trick of putting Mane in my fantasy team. It was the week before we played them. He hasn't had a goal or assist since.

Until recently, I didn't appreciate how good Liverpool's record has been over the years.

I knew they were good in the past (mainly the 80s), but because of my age I didn't know the ins-and-outs of it.

Firstly, you have to go all the way back to before the 62/63 season for them to finish outside of the 'Top-8'.

That is a phenomenal record!!

Then you have the 70s and 80s when they only finished outside of the 'Top-2' 3 times, whilst picking up 11 titles (and I'm sure quite a few cups, although I haven't checked that).

So it's not surprising why their fans are 'entitled' or 'deluded' with that sort of pedigree.

It also explains why they hate Sir Alex Ferguson so much; apart from the obvious rivalry, he completely stole their thunder in the 90s and 00s.

And it also explains why they're so desperate to win another league title; the last one was in 89/90 season (nearly 30 years ago).

Dont want to take any of the glory away from you but i've had Salah as my captain since the start of the season. Also had Aubamerang as my striker until the last weekend :(
