I appreciate your ability to be objective and fair-minded, but I think you underestimate the importance of rivalry. Saying something good about someone not on your team does, however much you don't intend it, infer a slight upon your own team.

Did a Labour politician stick up for Amber Rudd and say 'well, at least she's good at maths'?

No.

Did the keyboardist in Ultravox say 'to be fair, that Joe Dolce song is quite catchy and upbeat'?

No.

Did Morgan Freeman and Alan Rickman say 'I tell you what, Patrick Bergin was a far more convincing Robin Hood than Kevin'?

Probably. But that's beside the point.

Football is tribal. If you say something complimentary about another team, you are, by default, seen not to be supporting yours. And I get the fact that Liverpool look as if they're doing good business but

(a) as a rule, the team who 'win' the summer transfer window don't win much else

and

(b) take it to the General Transfers thread.

If West Ham ever bought anyone good and someone praised them in the 'Let's all laugh at West Ham thread', I'd have a blue fit. I know this isn't likely to happen but, still, have a care. People come here to laugh at Liverpool and I think that need for petty, bitter schadenfreude borne out of years of Liverpool actually being good (and/or having had to suffer Bread, Boardman, Tarbuck and Lawro all these years) (and/or having had their hub caps half-hinched) should be respected and not diluted with objective assessments of their quality. That's just my views, though.

Stop pissing your knickers @ piedpipper this is the let’s all laugh at Liverpool thread is it not? You guys want to discuss what you see as their positive moves and excellent business etc start another thread. I’ll blank it coz I’m here for the shits and giggles. Got nothing against you tbh but I come here to laugh at the Nivea loving crawly bum licks myself

Fair comments lads, my sentiments entirely.

Thanks for the well considered reply. Yes i get its tribal and. until i bumped into this thread i never knew the obsession ( not rivalry) was this huge. Its a Liverpool thread so its the most appropriate place to comment on them. Whether its good or bad.

Let me not hog the thread and allow others the opportunity to enjoy their favourite past time.

More of an 'anti-Liverpool thread' pp.

It's an obsession on here with the 'laugh at' threads - there is even one for laughing at Spurs (which I didn't even know about until recently)

It's a release mechanism from the humdrum reality we endure. Our nature is to scoff at other pretentious
teams, their followers and even the fawning fourth estate with they're own agendas.

We've had decades of derision and hatred tossed in our direction whether it be via the workplace or through family connections or that bastard media, it's comeback time.

Don't see a problem with talking about or taking the piss out of Liverpool in this thread, it's what the thread is for, the problem is when it spills over into other threads like the Opponent's fans thread, it's just unnecessary and seems small time that we continue to focus our energy on them in different threads.

RE : Fekir..

An issue with the Lyon captain’s fitness, however, delayed the announcement and placed the transfer in doubt. The attacking midfielder, a key transfer target for Jürgen Klopp this summer, ruptured a cruciate ligament in September 2015 that caused him to miss the majority of the 2015-16 campaign. He also missed several weeks of last season with a knee problem.

Bob Paisley OBE got one, as did Cilla Black, Ken Dodd, Paul McCartney and even his daughter Stella ( although she is only a half Mickey)

You can't visit Merseyside without tripping over medals given out by the Queen.

Grievers gonna grieve.

A new thread to discuss the general goings on at Liverpool rather than clutter up the Let's All Laugh at thread with talk about transfers, tactics, OBE's, etc.
