Greenwood has been doing quite well up top and Cavani has also been quite good for them, so you do wonder if they really needed Ronaldo back.

Will be interesting to see now as Greenwood has previously also played wide right but they also have Sancho.

I'm guessing it's because Fred is more defensive minded than Donny. With all those attacking players in front and add Ronaldo, less need for a CM who will be more attacking like Donny. He should never have left Ajax.
Funny that 8 years ago we were strongly linked with Fred, due to the partnership, he was an upcoming winger in Brazil

Im still confused as to how he became a CM

And also confused that he shows absolutely none of the attributes of a typical winger.

This is a great signing for the fans (irrespective of who you support) but I do think, we’ll hope, it will disrupt the dressing room harmony. Egos a plenty.
He will definitely be playing all League and Champions League games. So that leaves League Cup and maybe FACup if drawn against a big club.

Do you really? `I think its as obvious as Boris Johnson telling a lie
It will be interesting to see how Ronaldo effects the general dynamic of the team. No doubt he'll score a load of goals but the efficiency of the team unit may be compromised as well as stifling Greenwood etc

Looks like Cavani is the second class citizen :cautious:
(and the PL bent the rules for united!)

To be fair , with that squad Conte would have them winning trophies, OGS just doesn’t strike me as the Man to bring the glory days back imo
Agreed.

They'd win the title within two seasons with Conte. OGS's management in the really big games is very questionable.

This whole ‘bring the glory days’ back is a load of folly, Fergie won 38 trophies as a manager, including 13 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cups and 2 UEFA Champions Leagues, between 1986 and 2013.
Their league record in the 80’s could quite easily have read how ours was in the 90’s or 20’s, the only difference being they got lucky with fergie just when Sky decided to throw cash at football and Mark Robins saved his bacon.
Prior to fergie joining they were a top ten side and if you look at the historical trophy count up until fergie joining we really weren’t that far behind them.
Fast forward 35 years and it’s an absolute chasm, I remember back in the late eighties when Michael Knighton was going to buy them, they certainly wouldn’t be banging on about bringing back the ‘glory days’ if Knighton ended up in charge as it wouldn’t have happened.
