Absolutely

I questioned Sancho's signing multiple times to my United supporting brother because with Rashford and Greenwood mostly performing better from the wide areas, they needed to have a space that he could ready make his own. I feel that when you make a big signing like that you need to make that player feel really special and that he is a key player in the team. Ronaldo's arrival overshadowed that.

With Ronaldo coming in its just complicated matters further and it will have put Greenwood's nose out of joint as he was playing well and starting to come into his own, since then he's scored just the once I think.

It is a bit similar to us last year, we had 6 players vying for 3 spots. Yet, Kane and Son were always going to occupy those spots which meant it was impossible to keep the others happy.

What we got was 4 players constantly being in and out of the squad and no set rhythm cause Jose ditches players after one poor performance.

It's actually funny what's happening at United cause Solskjaer was brought in to clear the decks and slim down the squad, getting them on side. Jose and Van Gaals squads were way to bloated and players egos were getting hurt due to it. He's essentially fallen into the same trap despite initially doing well with the squad.
Yep the Ronaldo signing was purely nostalgia.

He may turn out to be a cracking piece of business, but having already signed Sancho they were starting to push Greenwood up top centrally.

It is a squad game of course, but with egos like Ronaldo and Pogba they aren’t the kind of players who are easy to rotate.

There’s also the issue of Pogba, I’m just not sure if he’s suited to play in that midfield two.

Its the same with us when we pushed Ndombele back there, it looks lovely on paper but sometimes you benefit much more from having a pair of proper engine room hard working players, don’t get me wrong Skipp and PEH for us are capable of some nice passing but they are proper designated engine room midfielders. You wouldn’t push either up further.

Whereas Pogba might thrive more further up with McTominay and Fred grafting behind him. Or even Van Beek who can play deeper and not really been given a decent chance.

But then where do you play Fernandes…

I‘d probably look to move on Pogba, not saying Fernandes is better but he seems more loyal whereas Pogba has a touch of the mercenary about him, plus Fernandes has had good assist and goal... I mean penalty stats (lolz).

Theyre too soft in middle and need couple of grafters in there, a lot of games are won where you have the best defensive midfielders as you control games so much better.

Lingard is also wasted there, not sure why OGS wants him to sign new deal as he’d be better off going back to West Ham where he was main man and I can then put him back in my fantasy football team! ??

OGS really has made a mess of United. The fact they are behind us after all the riches he was given is laughable. They dd not need Ronaldo - they just needed a world class DCM.

Their next 5 games are extremely tough. Atlanta x 2, liverpool, us & citeh, there is no guarantee they'll win all 5 however I think he loses at least 3, add that to what's gone before if he survives after that then he'll be in for the long hall.

Very strange that they didn't go for a player like Bissouma or Ndidi last summer.

Let’s all be honest, with Utd’s spending power (inside the FFP rules) they should be challenging / winning titles most years.

The only reason they’re not is piss poor management above OGS and a clear lack of understanding on how to build a balanced squad with hungry players.

They target the big name Hollywood players that sound exciting to fans on twitter rather than the effective players needed to build a squad.

If they had a Kimmich/Phillips/Rice style player in the middle they would be far more effective but instead they sign Sancho and then ruin any chance he has of integrating by adding Ronaldo on top.

They ‘could’ be a really effective team with their squad but they’re too preoccupied with fitting in all the stars that they don’t pick a balanced starting 11.

Long may it continue :woot:

Exactly. Their forward options are crazy:

Martial
Greenwood
Cavani
Rashford
Sancho
Ronaldo

They stumbled across Cavani as a stop gap solution hat actually made them a decent team with a physcial focal point up top. No need to buy Sancho or Ronaldo as you say. They should have gone for Rice or Ndidi last summer and completed their jigsaw.

It seems like the owners are just happy to get top 4, I don't think they sack him until top 4 is gone.

I was at a seminar a couple of years ago, it mustve been after the season ended in 2019 when Solskjær had got the job full time, where ESPNs Mark Ogden talked to us about the United setup, who does what and what the leadership's motivation is.

Basically an ideal season for the Glazers is finishing second in every competition they enter - a good team, lots of good publicity, excitement all the way, but ending up not having to pay a penny in win bonuses.

That speaks volumes.

What does Siu mean?
He’s just saying ”yes” in Spanish (“oui“) but it started sounding like he was adding the U sound to the end and just went with it. Anyone “correcting“ my intentional French; you’ll make my day.

Well…that’s something else isn’t it.

Feel like that video should have banjos playing the background.
