If I could be arsed I'd let you all in on my theory that society's downfall stemmed from the 80's, but I'm knackered & can't be bothered.

Yeah everything was great before then.

Except, priests abusing kids, teachers abusing kids, racism, inequality, rampant sectarianism, a couple of world wars, the Holocaust, slavery etc. Etc. Etc.

To digress slightly, I think it's swings and roundabouts.
Social media is a problem.
But at the same time, access to the internet and being more "connected" (arguably) does lead to more information being shared and potentially more people being rightly brought to justice.

I know it's been said before, but this is increasingly feeling like he's never gonna play for Man United again (if he ever even plays football again)
When you consider the reaction to Raith Rovers offering David Goodwillie a contract I can't see there being any chance he pulls on a football shirt again, let alone for United.

Rangnick seems incredibly soft. Lingard given weekend off the get his thoughts straight and Cavani for jet lag. Feels like his Gallaticos are walking all over him.

Yeah someone cited Marlon King as an example previously but, though it might sound clichéd, I really think #metoo changed everything especially with regards to the tolerance and forgiveness of sexual assault.

United are clearly our biggest top4 threat. Not having Greenwood in the squad is going to affect them big time in the 2nd half of the season. He tried more shots on target & attempted through balls more than any of their forward line. Lets hope it affects them here on in

Him being “further arrested” means further offences have been discovered.

Sexual assault and rape are two different offence, rape is “penetration by a penis” sexual assault is physical touching including through clothing.

If he was originally arrested for rape and sexual assault then that’s two incidents. To be be further arrested, it means that in the time they have been talking to him they have found further evidence, or received further allegations from either the original or a new victim, that mean they now have evidence of new offences in addition to the original rape and sexual assault he was arrested for.

Greenwood situation has meant they've kept Lingaard and not sure if that'll be good for them or not:

Forgot they still have Juan Mata as a player. Mata behind Ronaldo would have been a world class partnership ten years ago.

Shambles. Maybe their natural talent will pull them through. But right now it’s a total circus. Fells like the discord is actually worse since Rangnick joined.

Ralph doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing tbh.
I beg to difer, I do think he's toeing the Company line & making statements that the board want put out there, which is then biting him on the arse like the JL statement, but, he's go them winning again & being hard to beat. He knows what he's doing imo

Yeah they have come out and said he won't play again for them and need to sit down with him to discuss.

My question is, is there certain crimes that are done (at any point in their careers) where you get hounded out of clubs, but other crimes and you are free to play?

Alonso probably being the main example. Get hounded out for sexual assault (no issues with that) but kill someone in a car crash, and free to play?

I disagree. He knows exactly what he is doing:

What I think is both depressing and disturbing is that there isn't any like... line. It's not like if someone does some set of things then it's certain what will happen. I mean we're in the United thread so we can look at Greenwood VS. Ronaldo. It's over for Greenwood for sexual abuse but Ronaldo? Nah he's fine.

(and yes, I know the nuances of both cases are wildly different and all cases will differ but more the point that it's not like sexual abuse is a definitive career ruiner).

Annoying and ultimately, as I think is true in most parts of society and not just football... it will constantly change depending on when/where/who. The more talented... the richer... the ones with bigger names etc... can often get away with more things.
