They will never again reach the levels they did under Fergie.

In fact, Ten Hag isn't going to make them a top team either.

They are very much a 'nothing' team at the moment. No energy, synergy, no belief.

Very much in a rut.

Another thing I do have to take issue is their fans defending Ten Hag and saying if they had a proper structure in place, Ten Hag would be thriving.

I disagree.

I proper structure in place would mean that Ten hag would have been shown the door by now and they would have easily lined up a replacement.

A proper structure means that the decision makers are much more critical of poor results/performances because they know they are not getting what they were asking for.

They also wouldn't have agreed on Ten Hag's transfer targets.

Let’s face it, between now and the start of next season Ten Haag will be gone. With the Ratcliffe takeover almost done, he’s a dead man walking.

Nah, with a proper structure they wouldn't have spent huge amount of money on duffers and actually have put together a reasonable squad. Maybe he would have done better, who knows.

Their centre half partnership against West ham was Kambwala (who?) and Johnny Evans. Even at spurs with our centre back woes it has never been that bad. (Ever)

Not defending him, I actually criticised him when everyone on here was saying "I wish Levy had got him" (a year or so back)

His squad has been decimated by injuries this season as well.

Are they just waiting on the Ratcliffe sale to be finalised before doing anything?

Can't remember United being THIS bad in my lifetime. Yes they had poor spells after Fergie left, but at least they offered something in matches. I just don't see a game plan or anything when I watch them.

My only other thought is who in their right mind will go there? Again I guess they'll wait for the sale to be done and structure changes that may or may not happen.

Moyes was woeful for them. The only plan they had with him was to lob crosses in to Fellani.

Can't say how he'd be doing under those circumstances, we can only evaluate on how he is doing and managing things now.

The United board/directors have actually been very supportive of Ten Hag so he SHOULD be thriving.

They chased and bought players HE wanted, yet he is still struggling.

Supported him in Sancho, Ronaldo and Mason. Yet still struggling.

If he was working under a structure that didn't chase his targets and instead suggested 'club profile' targets and he had to accept them, do you really think it'd be working.

The whole reason Ten Hag accepted going there was because he demanded to have a big say over transfers so if that structure had bowed, I reckon they'd have put a stop to him much earlier.

Its been evident from the first moment, Antony has been a poor buy. A club with a structure and way of working would have put an end to that and would not have put up with his directionless tactical strategy which has served up 18 goals.

A structure isnt just put in place to help the coach, its to make sure they have a coach that aligns with their objectives and footballing beliefs.

Ten Hag isn't achieving anything.

A proper structure would have already been listing coaches who fit their way

There is just so much work to be done at United. Even their “wonder kids” are just a bit rubbish. Garnacho is extremely hit and miss and most of the time is invisible in games, Pellestri is really average, Diallo has just disappeared and Hannibal is very very average.

Then their first team players are quite simply poor. Rashford has done what he does and go back to being a run of the mill winger, McTominay would suit a Fulham or Brentford level, Dalot is poor, Fernandes doesn’t care, and Hojlund looks like a kid playing men’s football.

A whole lot of work to be done, and if they do get their act together it will take 6-8 windows to really build a good squad.

I think also the scary thing for them is that ten Hag seemed like a sensible appointment.

They’ve tried so many different types of coach now from the continuity option (Moyes), to elite won it all option (van Gaal, Mourinho) to the young ex-players (Giggs, Solskjaer) to the progressive, project type (ten Hag) and they just can’t seem to get the formula right.

It’s true they have won trophies during the post-Ferguson era but when you look where they came from then to where they are now it must be so grim for them. They’re just a shadow in every conceivable way.

I think SAF has to take some blame for the state he left the First Team Squad in. It was a modern day miracle that squad won the PL in SAF’s last season. I have often wondered if he ran down the quality of the squad to make what he achieved appear even better.

I've got a few friends who are Utd fans. They hate their board and think their running of the club is really poor.

But this doesn't absolve the manager/head coach of all blame and responsibility.

The Utd have massively overpaid on transfer fees and wages to get ETH his top targets. They still look awful.
