Don't think it is anything to worry about just yet.

If someone is owning that percentage of the club they will not be putting a huge amount of their own money into the club as it will be diluted by the other owners.

Maybe it is a plan to gradually buy the club but I am sure there were things put in place when they moved to the Olympic stadium to ensure they couldn't do that easily but maybe doing it this way may get round those terms.

What isn't clear is if it was bought as an equity issue so the money can go into the club or if it was purchased from the current owners in which case it is just a bit of a pay day for them. I assume and hope it is the latter.
They don't own their stadium and so get nothing like the return we get, I think their current good form and this improves them but once we get up and running it's nothing to worry about.

Think it's just clearing their debt

I just researched he owns 40% of Slavia Prague they've failed to win the league in 7years Sparta Prague have won it a fair few with Viktoria Plzen winning a couple so doubt it'll change much just another person making decisions alongside the dildo bros and Brady
You've mixed up your Prague clubs, he owns Sparta and Slavia keep winning, but the gist is spot on.

I can't be bothered to read anything to do with that lot.

How the hell are they £150M in debt when they pay peanuts for their stadium, sold Upton Park for £40M and the owners (I believe?) are not exactly adored by their supporters when it comes to transfer deals.

I must be missing something here, their only meaningful income stream is the TV money and they just don't make enough money elsewhere looking at the EBITDA table. The guy is obviously a lot more clever than I am but for a club that historically can struggle to stay in the league it is a big investment.

I've also done a bit of research and now suspect I know why the purchase wasn't above £200m. Apparently the deal they signed to get the stadium at the expense of taxpayers in 2013 includes a clause in it that imposes a windfall tax that is payable by the Dildo Brothers if they sell shares to the value of over £200 million within 10 years of that 2013 deal, so don't be surprised if any deal that sees Gold or Sullivan relinquishes the rest of their shares takes place mysteriously after March 2023. More money they will avoid paying back to taxpayers. I wouldn't have voluntarily subsidised that club as a taxpayer and neither would I or many of us have agreed to subsidise it to ensure their fans who have no love for us at all benefit from cheap Season ticket prices.

Wow. It's almost as though the club is run by a bunch of ****s.

He’s basically taken a punt on getting a free or very good deal on the stadium. With Birmingham hosting common wealth games it’s a decent punt. I know levy has some sort of agreement re the athletics, but if the stadium continues to make a loss and cost the taxpayer, they me able to circumnavigate Levy. Although good luck with that ?

I don't think even Levy could stand in the way of the sale. It's been a drain on the tax payers and it will be an easy sell to the public and far easier to paint Levy as the villain

You might be right - but there wouldn't be anything to stop other parties from bidding for it. Taxpayers would want the highest possible price to be realised for it.

It is prime land and any third party buying it would be completely within their rights to knock it down and build something else. Unfortunately that would mean that West Ham would be homeless......

We should just be thankful they were left with that god awful stadium tbh. We could have easily ended up with a city situation where they gained a proper fit for purpose football stadium off the back of Olympics which would have given them a massive leg up.

Instead, they are left with a pretty awful stadium that they don’t even own.

Even if they were to end up owning it, what could they do? I seem to remember reading that they couldn't dig down to lower the pitch. So it would be very difficult to improve without demolishing it and starting from scratch.

Maybe that’s his long game?

The land is a lot more valuable than the price of the club.

The Spammers who are constantly having digs at us year on year and on a almost daily basis and why in their view should we be deserving of such constant digs ? Well "according to them" we are apparently the most hated team in the country because we like to "get ahead of ourselves". Ironically they've started a thread on their Kumb website called "Can we do a Leicester ?".......

In relative terms, they've had 5 seconds of new found success, and they've got the bare faced hypocrisy to level that charge against us ??
