You're being overly critical.

We have to continue to buy youth in the hope that one or two eventually become good enough to break through. It's about spotting potential and gambling in the hope that they realise it.

Yes, Wenger has brought through a lot in the past, but he's cut loose hundreds of them, same goes for Liverpool.

We need more to come through, but we're getting there. Our academy has been awesome for the last 2 years but these kids are still only just coming up to 18 in most cases.

Be patient, it's all a gamble, but when it pays off it will be sweet.

If we decide not to go for Delph and he becomes a top player all of you guys will be spewing at Levy for not buying while he had the chance. Just like if we'd opted not to buy Lennon as we'd just bought Routledge as our first choice.

Where going to be here all day if we list them all but basically this policy is not working our coaching is either failing these players or something is going wrong its obvious we are wasting money here with the recent arrival of the Kyles and now theres rumours of delph and howson from leeds its just making me wonder what is the point?. We need proven good players if we are going to crack the prem not kids that are failing when we are spending a huge amount on them levy really needs to re think his policy because to me it just stinks of hes in it for a profit not for the fans or the clubs best views.

Gilberto was proven, he was Brazil's left back, Levy reluctantly sanctioned the move for £2m and he has now been released.

Rocha was a proven, experienced CB for Benfica, he was signed for almost £3m, he has now been released.

Pavlyuchenko is a proven european class striker, at 27 Levy sanctioned a moved worth £14m

Robbie Keane is a proven premier league striker, he was re signed for £15m

Jermain Defoe is a proven premier league striker, he was re signed for £15m, 1 year after selling him for £9m

Palacios is a proven Premier League midfielder, signed for £12m

Now are you seriously telling me Levy would do the above deals if he was only out to make a quick buck?

it's amazing you have ignored these facts.

To be honest i am getting a bit fed up off this youth policy aswell we spending stupid amounts on players that might never make it just think back a few year how many players have made it how many aint that we have bought?

Il help you

Players that have made it in recent times
O'Hara
Lennon
King
Dawson
Oh wait a min thats all :|

How many players have failed
Hmm
Routledge
Reid
Barnard
Thelwell
Yeates
Dixon
Jackson
ifill
Boateng
Dos Santos
Kaboul

Players that look like making it but probs wont
Livermore
Bostock
Parret

Players that could still make it in last chance saloon
Bale
Huddlestone
Alnwick
Taarabt
Dos Santos

Proven good players like Bent, Hutton, Pav, Keane and Bentley, all of whom were brought in for big money with big reputations, and all of whom Levy is urged to sell for big losses?

I remember when Ashley Young was too much at 10 million, and two years later is worth 30 million. And Bale, Huddlestone and Dos Santos will all play a lot of top flight games, though maybe not at Spurs.

The fans' view of what's good for the club is not the same as what's good for the club, albeit that Levy's is not necessarily, either.

Exactly.

Levy is a **** for being in it for the money... but he's also a **** for buying Bent for £16m and not taking £12m for him... huh? what? are some of you guys mental?

So you weren't impressed with Levy swallowing his pride and SUPPORTING Redknapp buying back Keane and Defoe for 30 mil, or TRUSTING Redknapp and spending 40+ million in January.

I think there are about 18 managers in the EPL - including Wenger - who would appreciate that kind of SUPPORT & Trust.

Im supposed to applaud Levy who completely fucked everything up and HAD to spend the money to avoid us being relegated which has put us back 3 steps, just another upper mid table side?

Relegation would have been a complete disaster, listening to Redknapp then and spending money we should be spending now (to correct his fuck ups) was a no brainer

Buying Crouch now would improve the team but its not necessarily great business and If Levy doesn't sanction it it wont cost him much more than maybe 3-4 league places

Step forward the new Comolli...

Daniel Levy!

Thank fuck some people have managed to find the new transfer scapegoat!

For the record a quick glance through our recent transfer history shows that we spend money, correction big money! The money has been spent on young players of promise and proven top flight and international performers!

If we only bought kids some of you might have a case but this is so far from the truth it's ridiculous!

Although I don't agree I can understand how people question Levy with regards to how the club has been managed at management level. But what I can't understand is how anybody questions whether or not he has been supportive of spending on the playing staff at all levels!

Does that include the summer when BMJ wanted some extra experience in a couple of areas and we ended up buying KPB?

why pick up on one player in KPB, I have no doubt that Jol wanted him. In the previous year we had spent big money on the likes of..

Rocha
Chimbonda
Steed
Berbatov
Didi
Mido

All proven top flight or international players, not kids.

I have no doubt Jol was well supported in the transfer market, his problem was two fold. But that's another debate.

40 mil spent that summer. a massive ammount then, and still quite huge now, even if its only half a ronaldos worth

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

and how many of those did our manager want, 1 probably, 2 possibly

Still put up the money though. And Commoli has to be blamed for those purchases. However stupid it was for Levy to give that doughnut carte blanche to sign whoever, he backed him fully and gave him a huge war chest to achieve what he wanted.

Levy backed the wrong man, for sure, But he always backs his man.

Look at Portsmouth's capitulation. Mutari, Johnson, Diarra, Defoe all going for big money, yet Paul Hart still says they need to sell Crouch for £10m.

This is what happens when you overspend in an unsustainable manner, yet some of you want Levy to do the same. Pompey have been lucky their assets have fetched a great deal of value, otherwise they could be doing a Leeds right now.

No...we are saying that he should spend his money buying players who can get us into the Champs League rather than kids who he can sell on for profit.

No one is accusing him of not providing money...it's just the how he spends it. He's wasted sooo much money.

He should buy players that will get us into the CL, and how exactly do you think he can do that, in a World Cup season, without European football to offer?

He's wasted so much money trying to do what you want him to do in the your first point. He's bought players on the basis that they are quality players, that they will help us to the Champions League. Unfortunately it hasn't worked out for some of these players.

And he has to put up with people like you, who want him to spend/waste more money to try, and probably fail to get into the CL, which could lead to heavy debt for the club, which we really don't want.

Going from nearly qualifying for the Champs League 4 years ago to nearly getting relegated last season you'd have to say Levy has done an amazing job in running the club recently
