As long as we have Kane there is no point in spending that much money on a striker.
Get a veteran who has experience and fit the bill for two years and hope by then Scarlett and/or Troy are ready. Different story if Kane leaves, still then Vinicius would not be my choice. He has an eye for a goal but his overall play and offside awareness is not good enough in my eyes. And it would be best for Vini himself too. He should look for a good Europa League side in Spain or Italy where he can have a decent career.

Ings will be available this summer for sub 20mil. Danny boy likes a deal from Soton, Ings knows how to score in the PL and would suit our system well.

I guess the biggest determining factor in anything to do with transfers is if Jose is here next season or not. As a new manager may feel differently about certain players we're looking to bring in. I think the safest thing is that there's no way we pay 38mil for Vinicius.

I'm not saying we should go for him but if Liverpool are letting Origi go for £12m, then £38m for Vinicius is too much.
We can say that he's not had a fair chance on the pitch but we have to ask why. Is he up to it or just a final throw of the dice?
If we're chasing a game, we're more likely to bring a Lamela or Moura on.

Ings has already played second fiddle at a big club and has decided he'd rather be a big fish in a little pond.
Unless we sell Kane, Ings won't come.

What we need is someone who can cover for Kane and also play as a 10 or in one of the wide forward positions. A Dybala if you will. One can only dream....
Spot on, we don’t need someone to be a bench warmer most of the time . Dybala can play in mult8ple,positions. Dele can go to pay for him.Have to be careful with homegrown quota though"

People keep saying you can get much more quality for 38m but don't name these quality strikers available for that price.

Danny Ings would be not far off half of that amount (entering last year of contract).

Works harder than Vinicious.
Quicker than Vinicious.
Can play anywhere across the front line, unlike Vinicious.
PL proven, unlike Vinicious.

Obvious injury concerns, but I was merely answering your question (y)

Sounds nice but in reality though Kane is always gonna be first choice, no one is going to think they can actually hold down a first team place ahead of Kane, no one decent anyway.

My shout could easily play instead of, or alongside Kane.

Onions.

Id have thought Ings was the obvious alternative? One year left on his contract, proven PL scorer, can play anywhere across the Front 3 and gives us 'back-up' in the event that either Bale or Kane arent around next year.
Sure plenty will disagree but there you go - just my onion!

Oh you ****

I thought Carlos put in a very decent shift last night and glad to see him so pumped to get his first league goal. I don't think we can do that much better for what is essentially a back-up striker behind Kane. But with Kane happy to drop deep more it seemed to work to have them both on the pitch at the same time - they certainly weren't getting in each others' way.

Credit to Lucas who has clearly bonded with Carlos and to try and help the guy settle in a new country with a new language. And you can see that chemistry on the pitch too, combining well to get the break-through first goal a little bit against the run of play.

Who knows whether the perm deal fee can be negotiated down or the loan term extended, either way I'd be happy to keep him in the squad.
