Adriano is definitely the one that stands out for me. Would be an inspired signing.

Chamakh is a good player, but probably not a huge improvement on Pav.

Even Saha wouldn't be a bad option to provide cover, but not the #9 to lead us to the CL.

If we can get CL Football, I'd love to sign Joe Cole. He's one player who I've admired for a long time, and I'm sure there's quite a few others on here who do as well.

Belletti would be excellent cover for across the defense, plus he has experience in the CL.

I think Beckford will be at a Championship club next season, whether it's Leeds or not is irrelevant. Apparently he thinks he's above them though.

Wouldn't be against Martin Petrov either.

Aurelio is 30? Eek

Cole is the only one I'd take on that list.

I didn't realise David James was nearly 40 years old. I really hope the smoke suggesting Harry is interested in Calamity is just that. We can do better, if only in longevity of contract.

Maxi Rodriguez (Atletico Madrid, 28) - Only if JJ goes and we don't buy Sandro.

Christoph Metzelder (Real Madrid, 29) - Can rediscover his Dortmund form if in the right team. Not sure if we're the right team for him though.

Michael Ballack (Chelsea, 33) - Would love to have someone of his ilk - a true leader - at our club.

Joe Cole (Chelsea, 28) - There'll be other big clubs ahead of us if he doesn't sign on at Chelski.

Marouane Chamakh (Bordeaux, 25) - Wenger's waiting for his contract to run out. Worth the wait?

Ruud van Nistelrooy (Real Madrid, 33) - Finisher extraordinaire even at his age. This is the one we should go for when Pav goes.

Joe Ledley (Cardiff, 22) - Better suited for a team such as Everton, who have a coach that can get players to raise their game.

Adriano (Flamengo, 27) - Big gamble. Is his head still in the game or is he biding his time in Brazil?

I would be surprised if Joe Cole doesn't sign a new contract at the Chavs by the end of the season.

It would be interesting to see what happens to those 2 Arsenal players on there not that I'd suggest we'd sign them but just to see what happens.
I'm suprized Senderos hasn't got a club.
For Spurs possibly a striker from RVN,Chamakh or Saha and possibly Ledley but that all depends on who we sign in midfield.

Just remember that even though a player is available on a free it does NOT mean he actually is free. Free agents generally demands huge signing-on fees.
Johnson and Chamkh are the only players I would be interested in of those that Spurs would have a realistic chance of getting.
There is not way Joe Cole or Ballack will join Spurs, for those who believe that.

Maxi Rodriguez (Atletico Madrid, 28) - Only if JJ goes and we don't buy Sandro. He plays on the left, and not very well anymore

Christoph Metzelder (Real Madrid, 29) - Can rediscover his Dortmund form if in the right team. Not sure if we're the right team for him though.
Clumsy and injured all the time
Michael Ballack (Chelsea, 33) - Would love to have someone of his ilk - a true leader - at our club.
I reckon if he doesn't stay with Chelsea it'll be back to Munchen for him
Joe Cole (Chelsea, 28) - There'll be other big clubs ahead of us if he doesn't sign on at Chelski.
Wonderful but spends half his life injured and is he really what we need with Modric and Kranjcar here already
Marouane Chamakh (Bordeaux, 25) - Wenger's waiting for his contract to run out. Worth the wait?
Very talented, quick, strong striker, but doesn't score that many in an inferior league
Ruud van Nistelrooy (Real Madrid, 33) - Finisher extraordinaire even at his age. This is the one we should go for when Pav goes.
Agreed
Joe Ledley (Cardiff, 22) - Better suited for a team such as Everton, who have a coach that can get players to raise their game.
So Redknapp doesn't get players to raise their game? Must be coincidence with us then.
Adriano (Flamengo, 27) - Big gamble. Is his head still in the game or is he biding his time in Brazil?
He has been superb (as has fat tranny fucking buck toothed Ronaldo) since his return to Brazil, off the booze, off the drugs, in shape, scoring non stop. A risk, but not a big one if free when we already have Defoe, Crouch and probably still Keane. I would jump at the chance.

One of Adriano, Chamakh, Van Nistelrooy, in that order of preference, would be it for me from that list.

J.Cole, no, wonderful player but amazingly injury prone and him signing would mean one of Kranjcar or Modric, both of whom are younger, is off, and I don't want that to happen. Ditto for Maxi, who hasn't actually impressed me for about 5 years anyway barring the very occasional wondergoal.

The stand out player IMHO is Joe Cole - but as I understand it the Chavs are negotiating a new deal with him. H e has stated that he wants to stay (but we've all heard that one, ahven't we Judas:eek:mg:). Bigger clubs may be ahead of us in the queue (as someone said), but, in our favour is the fac that he would have more chance of bieng auto first choice at the Lane (the most obvious conceivable reason why he may want to leave SB), and he knows and (apparently) likes 'Arry.

Id never want Adriano and he should stay in Brazil, he has mentally not been right for a long time...first he was just being a prima donna, then his father passed away. I wouldnt want him at Spurs, too volatile.

Chamakh would be a top top signing, Bordeaux are a good side and Chamakh is a excellent part of their attack, he is a good finisher but can link up and create, like Berbatov but without the pinache, but also not as slow.

Maxi is a shocker, top player who needs a move. Petrov is also an excellent player when given a run of games, scores goals and has one helluva cross.

Adam Johnson will be interesting...half the league will want him, I still feel he could re-sign with Boro if they improve. Joe Cole will re-sign I think.

Pedersen and Joe Ledley on frees would be great bargains.

They said on SSN yesterday that Joe Cole was the 2nd most substituted player in the premiership last decade being taken off 102 times.
I'm sure that proves something but I've no idea what it is.

Joe Cole would be great, but where would we accommodate him?

Aurelio would provide good compeition at left back, likewise with Metzelder in the middle.

If we shipped out Pav, Ruud would be a great signing, likely to be cheap as well.

I like Joe Ledley and Adam Johnson as well, could be good future players, even if we just make a profit on them in a few years.

I presume you are referring to Modders. Luka actually wants to play in the centre (and Kranks can do that too. I was only really thinking of the quality of Cole - almost good enough to be auto choice for top team in country - that would have to take us forward:shrug:

On Modders and Kranks: 'Arry has given hints that he is prepared to go for a 4-5-1 in order to accomodate the two - I'm sure Cole could fit into that as well - wow, it ouwld be like Ossie's Famous Five, and no defensive duties necessary:eek:mg:

Belletti would be a great signing. Quality player, great experience and he would probably be up for the move.

He improved last season, but his finishing was the least impressive part of his game in 2007-2008, when I actually watched a fair bit of Ligue 1. 'Composure in front of goal' isn't a phrase I'd readily associate with him, although he's got mostly everything else in his favour. Of the strikers, RvN would be my pick—I take on board what BBLG's posted about Adriano, but I still have deep-rooted misgivings about Brazilian strikers; brilliant they may be, but it seems to go with the territory that they're all two bricks short of a full load.

As for the rest, zero or very little appeal, no point, or no chance. Jamo I'd take as back-up for Gomes, but would he be happy with that? Given England's decidedly iffy choice of keepers, he must still fancy his chances of going to South Africa, but he's got no hope sitting on our bench.

No point in getting players JUST because they're free

Cole would be pretty awesome, Chamakh as well. I'd take one of Petrov, Johnson or Maxi as well

Aurelio isn't good enough and would mean Bale left, Ledley's not good enough, Pedersen isn't good enough, Belletti's yet another right-back but is also old, Metzelder has as many injuries as Woodgate/King, Adriano's too much of a risk, and I'd rather a longer term option than RVN, James is too old and would surely not want to be 2nd choice
