Don't want us to go anywhere near him.

He's reportedly refusing to play for Newcastle again and he's been arrested for the 2nd time this season.

If people really want someone like Remy (direct, explosive, pure finisher), there are other options out there. We've been linked with Yura Movsisyan in the past, and he is a very similar player. He speaks English too, as he grew up in the US.

I'd rather just have Remy.

He's at the woolwich match I see... As the commentators said, shouldn't read too much into that, but we will.

After watching him play for QPR last spring I was entirely convinced. Made some fantastic goals on his own with the rest of his team still squabbling at each other around the midline. Feel he would've been a far cheaper, and probably more reliable, option than Soldado.

Hello mate, I wouldn't be quite so quick to write Soldado off and I hope he gets another season to show what we all know he can do, but Remy is also someone I've liked the look of for some time now. The problem, for me, is that I don't think he's going to be short of offers.

I'd like to believe Soldado can come good. I think with a summer of refocusing himself and getting his confidence back, he can yet come good for us. It seems to me the rest of the squad respect and appreciate him, so I've no doubt they'll look to build him back up. But if we sell Ade this summer, as looks likely, we could do a lot worse than Remy. I think you're absolutely right we'll have competitors, but not as many as we would for Lukaku. Therefore, I view him as the best of our realistic options.

Cheer up mate. No need to be so blue. ;)

Question for you, you seem to want to keep a few of our younger players of potential, with Harry keen on signing Harry Kane would you be happy to get Remy if it meant losing Harry Kane? I know these mooted swaps rarely happen, just interested in much the same way as the one mentioned with Townsend being part of a deal to get Lallana.

Now for me I'd rather have Lallana and Remy than Townsend and Kane, but there's obviously several arguments for giving youngsters a chance in the first team.

Then there's the further argument that convenient swaps might lead you to players that may not be first choice targets and if instead of getting say Remy and Lallana and losing Kane and Townsend to do so you might be able to get lets say Jackson Martinez and Iker Muniain and keep both Townsend and Kane as cover players

All hypothetical of course, just interested in how much an attractive player swap offer would make you want to let one or two of the younger players go

Aah a very interesting question indeed.

First off, I think I should make it clear that despite his recent performances, I still do not rate Kane particularly highly. He can get under a ball and get off a decent shot if he's the time, but I'm not convinced he'll be able to use his feet to get to advantageous positions consistently enough and therefore make himself more unpredictable, and thereby the stuff that makes a top six striker. So yes, I'd make that swap. If QPR win the playoffs and come up then good for Kane as he may get regular Prem playing time, but if they stay in the Championship then at least he'd be on one of the better teams and I think he has the physicality to survive in that league.

Now swapping Lallana for Townsend is a tough question. On one hand, Lallana would clearly make far more of an immediate impact and on the side that we're far weaker at at the moment. But the real question is, are we assuming So'ton would only sit at the table if we're using Townsend as leverage? Because otherwise I would do everything in my power to keep Townsend while securing Lallana. But if we're to assume that Saints would only accept a swap as part of the deal, (I'm quite sure this will be unpopular) but I wouldn't take that trade. The reasons are below:

  1. As I've said before, I think Townsend will come good. He's one of the players (along with Capoue) that I think will benefit the most from the removal of the absurdly high back line by any new manager with half a brain.
  2. At the moment, we're very much struggling for passion from our players. I agree that he's gotten quite selfish with his play since he's mentally trying to show what he can do, but I think part of that is from the fact that he very much wants to succeed at Spurs and for country. We could use more guys that want to succeed at Spurs.
  3. A rather insignificant point, but a point nonetheless, Townsend is three years younger.
  4. Price. While we'd be getting an excellent player in Lallana, the price would undoubtedly be higher since Saints would certainly want a decent sum of cash on top of Townsend, and then we'd have to buy yet another player (unless we kept Lennon, which if we're continuing to play hypothetical games then I would not unless I couldn't find a suitable replacement).
  5. There are some great realistic options out there (Kono, Rafa Silva, Munian) who could do a great job as is, without having to make weight with a promising, young, homegrown Spurs fan.
But thanks again for the question, very interesting to discuss indeed.

I'd swap Townsend and Kane for Lallana but I don't want Remy if they're giving him away.
