The whole homegrown quota issue makes me question this.
Dawson, Walker, Naughton, Rose, Fryers, Carroll, Mason, Lennon & Townsend.
We need 8 from that 9 to be able to list a full 25 man squad. On the assumption Dawson is not wanted, and we're not likely to keep both Mason and Carroll, suddenly we're down to 7 and only being able to list a 24 man squad. Can we really afford to let Townsend go and replace him with an overseas player? We can only have 17 OS players max.
Just out of interest and please don't neg rep...but why aren't or doesn't other teams like Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool...etc...seemed concerned about home grown? They seems to be buying internationals without any concerns for home grown or is it just me not judging properly?
Thanks for clarity...

They are not like the rest of us that want to develop home grown players. They haven't got the time to do so or can afford to. They want 2 fully proven players in every position I'm afraid. This is why it's so difficult to catch them on an off day. Liverpool are a little different - they are still buying potential whilst the other 2 you've mentioned want to buy the finished article. It's a sad situation but that's the way it is. Even United were buying potential and developing - not quite sure they will be doing so now.

Thanks...So home grown quota is not a LAW?

Nope - you can sacrifice squad places if you don't want to meet the home-grown quota. That's basically the punishment for not having enough home-grown players. But when you have squads with the quality that Chelsea & City have, what difference does having 24 instead of 25 players registered make??

Not home grown as by those actual clubs, but home grown in terms of the actual squad yes. Both clubs will have done quite a bit of juggling to achieve this and will need to do more. City do tend to buy top young English players if they can. Chelsea have to ship a couple out by the sound of it as they are only allowed to have 17 overseas in their squad. City are right on the edge as well and have to get rid of at least 2 foreign star now or at least not name them, especially as they have sold Rodwell. They actually could be forced into buying a British player in the coming 3 weeks, but then they would buy someone like Barkley and then fall into the FPP laws. All very tight and quite a balancing act - after all we find it bad enough!

He'll never get in the team if he goes there.
Mind you, I'm of the opinion that if he were to go there we should try and get Torres on the cheap.
Mourinho likes Torres funnily enough. I think they're after Remy because Drogba's injured.

I wouldn't want to see Chadli leave now.

All about opinions, but for me a loan swap would be ideal.

I see you've been spammed by tottenham terry too for no good reason lol

Selling Chadli would be daft as he's extremely versatile and unlike Andros and Lennon, he can cross the ball and hit the target more consistently.

My old man met Remys agent tonight in the Chelsea Harbour Hotel, he phoned me and told me the following points below.

- Remy wants to join spurs as he sees them as a big club and can settle there. His agent is doing everything he can to get the move to spurs to go through.

-Remy failed the medical at Liverpool due to American doctors advise. His agent said that the Doctors from America are always over cautious.

-Remy wife does not want to go back to Newcastle she hates it up there and loves the London life (what women don't).

-QPR are interested in Townsend.

I'm still firmly on the fence in regards to signing Remy. I'd prefer the Remy-Townsend loan swap if anything, I think. I think Townsend would do well to get a bunch of match minutes at QPR where he'd likely be asked to be the focal point of their attack (something I think he would probably thrive on).

I also think Remy could add some much needed pace to our attack, either out wide (he can play on the RW and score from there which would be nice to have with Lamela operating in the middle and Eriksen on the left, obviously switching positions frequently) or up top, giving us a nice option to get in behind defenses.

The issue with me are the injuries (missed 12 matches last season and the recurrent muscle injuries) but those injuries are relatively marginalized when we already have guys like Soldado/Adebayor here. I'm also curious what it'd mean for players like Holtby and Kane. If we want to play Remy out wide, it'll likely come at the expense of Holtby (Eriksen and Lamela being must-starters). Or, if he's playing up top, that'd likely push Kane out and in turn we'd probably need to look for a PL Loan for him (which, in the grand scheme of things may actually be a blessing for us and Kane).

Apparently the reason Harry got Hoddle in was he wants to play 352 next season, so Townsend there seems totally implausible now. Where would he fit in that system?
